I found this VERY creepy !

Well.....

Recently, I posted on the Moderators board that I might have to have a bit of a break from making the wee men....as I've been having problems with my eyes.

NOT, as it turned out, that I couldn't focus 'close to'.....But I was definitely having difficulty seeing properly out of my right eye.

Time for a sight test.

Got that done......And the right eye had deteriorated 'by two diopters'......Which is why I've been struggling with 'normal' as opposed to close up work.
Fair enough.....New pair of 'specs' on order..Which will improve things drastically.....Though I was also told I had the beginnings of cataracts in both eyes.....Which doesn't seem to be the slightest worry.

"We'll see how they are in a couple of years, Mr Lewis."

Fine by me....And I'm not in the slightest bit concerned.

The CREEPY bit...... Is that I've just ordered a couple of CD's  from Amazon. (You don't want to know....I'm a sad old f*rt)

The 'mail came back with the usual 'thanks for your order'.......But in amongst  the 'things you might like' was an 'advert' for........Disabled Key with Braille.

Yup, cataracts are fairly common amongst us older folk.

Nothing to worry about, there is a well established surgical routine which will sort them out.

Your vision will get a bit fuzzy for a while.

I'm on a watch list for them.

And as far as I can tell....I haven't got the slightest fuzzy vision, at the mo'.....And may not ever have any probs before I shuffle off this mortal coil.

Like I say....I'm not concerned about this, at all. :)

(Keep out of the sun, to stop the ultra violet light....and make sure you eat fruit.......Hmmm ......the fruit bit might be a problem. X_X)

The nice optician told me that.....'One of our customers has just had a cataract 'op'.....and was in, and out, within 10 minutes....and 'sorted'....Job done !

In my 'making wee soldiers kit', I've got little scalpel blades that are genuine, sterile eye surgery 'wosnames'......Though I don't fancy a 'do it yourself ' op. ;)

I just thought it was just  a wee bit strange that Amazon had any inkling that I had problems with my eyes. :-\

Sorry to hear that Phil, I hope it gets sorted out soon.

On a side note, is there a connection between cataphract and cataract? Directing sunlight against the enemy through scale armor.

My mum had her cataphracts done. No problems, but she did look rather weird as they put some kind of yellow dye in her eye. She cried yellow tears for a while.

I have to go to the opticians every ... seems like every 3 months ... 'cos what she had may get passed down to offspring.

Apparently I too have early cataracts and also glaucoma, but the latter is being stabilised with daily drops. I have recently bought a magnivisor and it seems to have improved things greatly.

Better to catch things early, Nobby !

I've had the yellow dye in the eye.  :) (I managed to scratch one eye, by getting a bit of grit caught  behind a contact lens.) The dye's fluorescent, if I remember correctly.
I'm sure the optician used a UV light to 'have a good look'.

Anyone seen in a room where they were using 'black light' would have looked a bit scary. ;D ;D ;D

They found a slightly enlarged blood vessel in one of my eyes a few years ago, since then had to go up the road to Arrowe Park every 6 mths, sit around for 3 mths, (seems like anyway), and walk out blind. Fortunately no further problems ID'd so may drop back to annual checks soon.
