I'd gladly pitch in for Leon if he deemed something here worthy!

Worthy ?......Stroll on. X_X

Atte......They are really superb.

I used to think I was a 'better than reasonable' painter.
I couldn't get close to what you and a number of other esteemed members of the forum produce.

Cheers - Jealous of Wales. ;)

Finish the Finns, they are fab.
The Finns fought hard for their independence, so maybe a good choice.
Could also count as interventionist forces in Russia I guess, what happened to the 17 revolution in your world? :)

During the revolution, the already independent Finland declared war on Russia ( With the help of Prussia and Sweden ) to reclaim back the tribal territories that belonged to the finnish tribes back in the Medieval times. The Tsarist Russia won the Civil War but had to sue for peace with Finland, losing a big chunk of land from the North-West Russia to the Finns.

Could this explain Finlands newly gained power in the North? Just throwing around ideas :)

Maybe Spanish - worrying France's southern flank, not to mention Gibraltar. The British moustaches have come up a treat.

I guess this could be a wild card faction, that could be played as Swiss/Spain/Finland/Sweden/Norway/Denmark/Russia?

Thank you so much!

I designed custom cards to go with the game. (You have 8 cards, and you play 2 cards at your turn, the round ends when all players have played their 8 Cards. RISK-Europe Rules)

And ordered those from Printerstudio.de (Shame they did not have english translation on their site, but I think I managed)

I did this to both the Medieval and WW1 versions.

A few samples from the Krieg 1919 version.

Also some progress on the Game Board.

Here's the 9mm thick MDF, roughly 810mm x 1220mm. Reinforced with 34mmx34mm wood from the bottom, with screws and PVA glue.

I drew some outlines to act as borders, and then proceed to carve them with my Dremel. So you can play RISK on this board, or just forget about the borders and play a normal wargame.

There's also some elevation made from cork coasters I had laying around the kitchen. And some filler to camouflage them in.

Should I now apply sand on the gameboard or should I speckle it with filler using a brush?

Thank you sir,

Would you happen to have any experience with flocking gaming boards? Any advice how to proceed with mine?

Techno

Yes, Atte.

But my 'knowledge' is probably SO out of date... X_X....I'll defer to some of the gang here, who will be far better at providing you with useful tips.

Lovely cards, especially the last one that just appeals to me. As for flocking a board, no real suggestions I'm afraid, other than using pre-flocked railway mats as a starting point.

Glad you guys liked the cards, the background art is made by Jakub Rozalski.

So without further instructions I went ahead and used speckled filler on the map with a large brush. Now waiting for it to dry so that I can paint it, and then highlight it to see the ground effect take place.

Here is a few pics I took from the now drying product. (The final result should be relatively flat, giving a nice flat gaming surface yet still a great ground effect without having to flock it with sand)

Also bought some Army Painter mixing balls, great way to get your paint agitated and flowing again! (no sponsor)

Lovely work!

I find The Terrain Tutor and Lukes APS to be good YouTube channels for terrain stuff if you're looking ideas. I've yet to make much myself but when I do, I've plenty of ideas from them!

Great looking progress on those projects.

Painted the base colour today (Painted the sides too after taking the pictures). The filler seems to have left a nice little texture on the surface that endured the painting process. Places that seem off will be flocked over with snow/grass etc.
