It's the 'bookcase syndrome'.......Where your most recent memories 'are contained' in the books on the top shelf of an imaginary bookcase.
The 'books ' fall over....Starting on the top shelf......And that means those memories are gone forever...You can never put those books back up.

Von's Mum is still bloody good at mental arithmatic....She still remembers pushing model planes around the map of the British Isles during WWII...But ask her what the date is now...or expect her to remember what she just asked, half a minute ago....and she's gone.

I caused some amusement by asking bank staff if there was a procedure for paying in large amounts of cash that one could not explain or if I just had to try not to look like a Columbian drugs baron :)

My mum still remembers my sister and I but the grandchildren are clearly becoming an amorphous blob of tall young people .... "So, which one are you?" She's much better on the young royals!

OI !!

I've fallen of a ladder.....Well...It wandered sideways....and I managed to get my left foot onto one of the stone 'gateposts' (about 4 foot high).

From there, I did a little dance, before falling completely backwards onto the concrete drive.
For some unexplained reason, I had the 'wit' to not let the back of my skull smack into the concrete, by leaning forward.....So it was my back that took the hit.

Bruised back...But that was about it.

Silly things FSN has done #37:

This weekend I found not one, but two Pendraken Norman army packs. Plus a few other bits and bobs.

For some reason (and I'm not sure why) I thought it would be a good idea to prepare them all for painting. I now have about 400 infantry and 100 cavalry mounted and undercoated.

It'll give me plenty of practice in painting mail.

Of course you now need to place an order for 2 Saxon Army packs to oppose them , there goes another £66 into Leons Coke fund (as in Coca Cola) , or  Miladys shoe fund.

I'm being very good at the moment and trying to delve into the bottom of my lead mountain and turn it into a lead molehill.

I've got some ACW to paint, plus lots of Marlborough and a recently discovered Anglo-Scots selection (probably bought in 2014 in the fervour of the Bannockburn anniversary.) That will leave me with Korea and the mass of Napoleonics that I have been putting off.
And a few bits of WWII.
Oh, and some horses of various descriptions

Silly Things FSN has done #38

It being Pendraken Ordering Day last week, I took the opportunity to send in an order to Tumbling Dice as well. Of course, my current passion is triremes, and so I ordered a few triemes and penteconters.

So far, so good.

Before I pressed the buy button, I thought I'd have a little look at the other things Tumbling Dice has to offer. I strayed into the Napoleonic ships and this is where I made my mistake. "What" I wondered "would the 74 look like?"

I realise now that a little fortitude would have got me through. However, I was at a low ebb, and feeling a bit poorly and weak and so a 74 got added to the order.

It arrived yesterday.

Today I am flicking through Otto von Pivka's "Navies of the Napoleonic Wars".

Please be prepared for a post in 2024 - "today I discovered 42 Napoleonic warships at the bottom of my lead mountain".
