A belated thanks guys for your encouragement.

Trying to work out the skin tone for some orcs.  Trying to base it on the green ocher color that I used for my 10mm orcs.

First try:

With a different shade color

The problem seems to be that, in photos,  the varnish that was applied after the first try kind of simulates the brighter highlights on the second.   Hmmmmm.

Anyway, any color scheme advice would be most welcome.

Techno

Well, I like it ! :)

It's got a 'lovely' grubby look.
Maybe....Just highlight the skin tones a little bit more ? :-\

Messing around with cloth colors.

Bone color with a sepia wash.  I've got to say that while this pic makes his sword look like the best weathering I've ever done, sadly I can't say it made any such impression while I was painting it.

A pale olive green

Hmmmm, I'd say the main thing I've learned in the last few years is to be bolder with color than I'm normally comfortable with.   But wanting these to be LotResque is working against that now.

What should I try next?  Maybe a dirty orange-brown?

lowlylowlycook

I think that this orange looks the best of them so far.

That's really good !  8)

Starting work on the archers

Armor is Vallejo Air Rust dry-brushed over Reaper Red Liner (which seems purple to my eye...).  Skin is just base coated with Reaper Sepia Liner.

Thanks guys.  Got some base coats on and then applied various washes.

Seems that the last was taken after I tried to add some blacklining even.

Great looking, Llc!

I actually believe that a former boss modeled  for the whip-slinging orc - dead ringer.

At my local store, people have taken to the new 40K Kill Team.   Which is nice, because the rules are better and simpler than 40K and it's much easier to paint 10 or so models.

Decided to do some archaeology and dig up some Tau that I've had for a long, long time.  Since I'm going to need a color scheme I whipped up this guy.

On him I'm thinking of try some kind of khaki on the cloth.  For the second victim I might try something blue.   For a very small force maybe white is even doable.

Techno

Be interesting to see how those colour combos work.

Looking great so far.
Blue, yellow ochre and white work well as camo.
