I caught the end of this on the TV the other night, and was intrigued, not least due to strong nostalgia

But now having seen the whole thing, its just quite irritating, as are all the ads for comparison sites. Their style really seems to be as irritating as possible to make what they are doing stick - which I suspect works.

So, take a 'beloved' children's toy and make them dance in a camp fashion to sell a price comparison website? I expect it's being post-ironic or something.

And, because it's camp, anyone who doesn't like it can instantly be labelled 'HOMOPHOBE!!!!'.

Being too old to have had an Action Man (boys in my day played with pen knives and pointy sticks) and far to old to even know who Skeletor and HeMan are I found then amusing if rather baffling.

Its got to be CGI or they aren't real Action Men (mans?) - everybody remembers how hard they were to stand up! Seriously though you'd need a frame to hold them - real stop motion are usually designed to be posed - Wallace and Gromit have a jointed metal skeleton.

It could be MoCap, so the routine is danced by people with dots on - like Andy Serkis/Gollum.  With more traditional animation the model is made in a computer, you pose it in start position, you move the arm where you want it to be, and the computer doing the bit in the middle.  In traditional animation 'Key Artists' do the start and end, and 'inbetweeners' do the frames in between.
