Anyone else have a problem getting on the forum, really early, this fair morn ?

I just kept getting "Access denied", whether I went straight for the forum or tied via 'the shop'.

Obviously working now, though.

Seems to be working ok now though......

Same here. On the Faceache page it appears the host server was undergoing maintenance, hence the lack of access.

petercooman

Same here, was very early though, about 5 AM

Techno

I wasn't up QUITE that early, Peter !  ;D ;D ;D (Actually, I was.....But that was to let the woofers out)

I think it was around 6 when I first tried.

Are you sure it was this forum and not the website of a well-known magazine? Imagine my surprise.

Yup! I was getting the message also. I assumed I'd finally been banned.
Forgot about FB (won't have looked there anyway). The Pendraken commerce site was up.

Steve J

A general search came up with the Facebook bit, otherwise I wouldn't have known about the server issue.

5am .... I was only just in bed!

I woke up at 4am and tried. I find teh forum really useful in the battle against insomnia.

Couldn't get back to sleep when I couldn't get logged on. Stared at a picture of the Battle of the Nile until the alarm went off, which is very odd because I don't own a picture of the Battle of the Nile.

Did it have sailing ships or chariots? Nelson or Ramses?

Well, seeing there is a time zone difference, that would make it 4AM for you  ;D

Had to work at 6 AM local time, otherwise i wouldn't be bothered  :P

Apologies for the downtime, it was a problem with the servers brought on by the newsletter being sent out.  They've implemented some type of security feature which picked up on all the emails being sent out in a short space of time and shut everything down.  We've got it fixed now and we'll get something sorted so it doesn't happen again in the future.

In related news, the forum upgrade should be completed soon, Matt's been snowed under with work recently but the bulk of the work has been done and he just needs to do some checks before we click the final button.

Thanks for the explanation, Leon. Probably a good thing actually.
Um - in the new forum will a Brigadier be considered a General? :D

Leman

One would assume if he is a brigadier general. Not being privy to such things I'm not sure why the British army dropped general from the title.

Would you believe Nelson in a chariot? Pulled by ostriches?

Maybe that cheese was past its best.  :-\

Are you sure what you thought were ostriches weren't Aztecs?
I have occasional misread sell-by dates meself.

Leman, I have always thought that Brigadier was a very good functional title but implies that it is limited to commanding a brigade of some specific type and not some sort of combined arms operation. We Americans seem to like stars (in elementary school we had them pasted on our homework and tests when we got all or most things right). The more stars the higher the rank unlike the British system which is like reading hieroglyphics.  :)

I am currently sitting here on the forum waiting for the bugger (exterminator) to show up.

Scotland, too. We used to get gold, silver and yellow(?) stars for spelling when I was in school - 3 gold got you a sweetie (candy) from the teacher! Getting the other stars took you longer to get that reward. My wife (a retired Head Teacher) tells me that it still happens but nowadays it depends on the school or teacher.   :-B
