Pack of CharlieGs, two packs of Sassanids and should me bases cheered me up a lot!

I got the two packs of Sassanids but the rest means nothing to me. And what is this Monday blue thing, is it paint?

Apparently, some scientists/trick cyclists believe that the most depressing day of the year is January 15th. Christmas has gone, it's cold and probably going to det colder and the days are still short. There's probably more but that's enough to depress anybody.
Luckily wether doesn't depress me, it's all just variations on a therme. Plus living in England it's so changeable you don't have time to get used to one type before it's gone.

Tell me about it! Tonight we had rain/hail hammering down for 10-15mins. I went out to go to pick my daughter up, and it was white over with hail stones. I drove to collect her, and in about 15mins when I came home, it had all melted, and the car was showing 7ºC

Searched for and found my 6mm French houses for my relaunch of the 10mm FPW. Then got together al my Altar of Freedom stuff. There's enough there to keep me going for the whole of 2018, and I can intersperse it with some extra SYW units which need painting up. Mantra for this year:focus, paint, save money and put on some spectacular C18th and C19th games.

Blue Monday, certainly a new one on me but then I'm not a scientist.

Can't remember much about this outdoor weather and stuff. Apart from a couple of very brief car journeys I can't remember the last time I was outside and apparently that will be the case for a few days more yet.

My real and present depression at the moment revolves around when I would be allowed near a paintbrush not like I have anything desperate waiting to be painted (cough). Picture the scene, me in house, paintbrush in garden hut, combine without stepping outdoors.

Could you get the paint brushes etc transported to you? It would help with recovery (etc) I'm sure.

Something to do with the when the credit card bills arrive from the Xmas shopping, still 2 weeks to payday, the weather is still miserable and cold and it's dark when you go to work and when you come home. Didn't bother me one jot. I did base up some spare minis for 'Rebels & Patriots' this evening which certainly cheered me up, as I couldn't be bothered to paint.

Nice idea but doomed to failure.

Once I have a paintbrush in hand I would then need the comfy painting chair and desk, my anglepoise lamps, my paints, my waterpots and my figures.

I have all these already in my wargames hut out in the garden.

It looks like I'll have to get me to them.

Next requirement is therefore clothing other than bedclothes, shoes and a few more days of rest and recuperation.

A few more Mondays then.

This is the kind of problem I have faced when trying to make portable painting kit to take away. Generally its not worth the hassle. Occasionally I have taken plastic figures away to assemble, as they need a much smaller set of tools and accoutrements.

Hope the post surgery recover contains apace. My wife had two major surgeries last year, and I was really surprised (in a good way) how quickly she was up and about again.

After the last couple of years, I now believe in SAD, Blue Monday etc. Actually, this morning was nice...much better than the cold, wet s**t since NY. Not nice now but having rewatched pilot for Breaking Bad in DVD set, positively cheerful! 
Sadly, no mojo to paint, detail etc. 
As to figures, tanks, scenery, etc...there is always the sad expedient of building up a cart ...THEN deleting and telling yourself what a responsible chap you are.    Just be very careful of 'that drink fuelled, WTF moment' when you could press the red button! 

Hold on 7 days for the Happy Mondays to come round and play a tune.

I have taken stuff to paint on holiday all over the world.  Its a bit of a faff but not too bad.

1 Select some figures that requires minimal number of paints
2 Clean figures and base on painting sticks
3 Select paints and either bag them or wrap in cling film
4 Pit all paints in plastic box with sealing lid ( Tuppawae or similar)
5 Double bag the box

Pack in suitcase that is going in the hold of a plane( NOT CARRY ON)

So for 10mm WSS I took

Paints
Crimson red
Tunic red
Leather brown
Black
White
Flesh
Yellow (for facings)

File,
Scalpel
cioctail sticks for stiring paint

All this including  60 figures on sticks fitted into two plastic take away containers, taking up less room than a pair of shoes


In this country I take a 9L realy usefull box. So I can take bigger scales , more paint and my optivisor

I've taken stuff away before, or to the club of an evening to paint of what ever's on allows; it takes quite rigorous pruning and steely resolve

Otherwise you end up trying to lug everything just in case, ending up with lots of different figures that need lots of different paints, and it's just too awkward.

One or two units (or a faction of larger models), which use the same few paints, pre-undercoated and on sticks, water pot, tissue, couple of brushes, done.

Not something I'd want someone else to ferret thru and try to work out for me, sorry Jim - I think you're stuck till you're recovered :/

I chugged thru a fair whack of Foreign Legion for French North Africa whilst watching Vikings, that was pretty good!

I have never, ever taken figures to paint when on holiday. Blimey, the Spanish Inquisition would be like a walk in the park if I even suggested it to Ma Subs. Mind you, if I go on holiday it's usually to soak up the local ambience, sink a few of whatever the locals drink and enjoy myself. When I come back the painting mojo is usually all fired up.  Back to France in May, near Wormhouldt again, maybe head south a bit this time as we have done all the other cardinal directions.
