Hi all, (*)
It's the now traditional (ie second) annual painting disaster thread.

No, we don't need to see your sparkly jumper Nobby, is that pure Nylon? Don't get too close to the fire.

What's gone pear-shaped with your painting this Xmas?
Mine is a simple one (so far) forgot whether I was labelling a base as a Quadreme or Hexeres, it ended up with IVI on it, I was nearly LIVID!!!

I haven't managed to do any :(

Run out of time today to finish a couple of units for Dragon Rampant :(. Will have to wait towards the end of the week once Xmas travelling is completed.

Worst I had was that a few wild west figures seemed to be a bit greasy, so the paint work didn't take properly. In the big picture, a mere trifle.
I don't drink coffee to wake up. I wake up to drink coffee.

Realised my 28mm Henry VIII 1513 stuff was taking far too long so they've been put to one side for now, probably until 2019.

Drat!
Last day before I go back to work :D Thought I would assemble an infantry platoon for Sabresquadron (Mechanised British), (as I have the Timecast AFVs), using some of my spare Falklands War infantry, I found I'm  short by two Charlie Gs!
Don't even know why? I already have a full company of Marines already, maybe I just fancied some mech, and it means painting more DPM! 😱

So, extra pack of FLB31 ordered! :)

Immediately before Xmas I got some brush on varnish for d_guy's chaps so I wouldn't risk spraying them in the cold/possible snow. Brand new fresh bought post, shaken like an insane thing to mix, popped on first test figure, left half an hour, looked cracking. Did rest of that unit, put down, had coffee, checked and whole unit frosted like the north pole.

There may have been words said...

Recovered them to d_guy's satisfaction, fortunately, but I was not happy...

On a similar note, another customer asked for a darker wash than usual. Got couple, tested. Slightly darker is ace. Much darker turns out to be very brown...

The way Pixie first described them they appeared to have sugar frosted crotches and armpits, turned out OK however:

In the background is my own semi-disaster. My wife gave me Scots and English Flodden armies from EBay for Christmas (along with Pixie's painting). I thought I could use them as is but then I did some research and am now repainting all or most! The Scots pikes in the background (for example) are partway in the switch from livery to homespun and brigandines. It was suppose to be a simple basing and touch up project!
Encumbered by Idjits, we pressed on

A right royal pain when varnish plays silly b*ggers !

Glad you were able to 'save' them, Pixie.

Bill....That's a pain, too !!....But they're still looking damn good.
