kev1964's impressive work continues on our SYW ranges and we've got the Austrians all photo'd up and on the website now!  The Russians are next in line and we should have those done soon.

Extremely weakened it would seem!  We'll get the order sorted and bring it along to the show.

Lovely figures, fun army which gave and gives the Prussians a rougher time than people think.

Rimmer: "Aliens."

Lister: "Oh God, aliens... Your explanation for anything slightly peculiar is aliens, isn't it?

Rimmer: "Well, we didn't use it all, Lister. Who did?"

Lister: "Rimmer, aliens used our bog roll?"

This range and specifically these figures are what got me into 10mm. I had ordered some 10mm WSS figures from Pendraken years ago, and I'll be honest I wasn't impressed. I think they were probably from the first WSS range, and I think there may have been two different ranges available simultaneously. They were more like big 6mm figures rather than the small 15mm that 10mm tends to be these days if that makes sense. I put them away and never went any further.
..but then.. I saw a review of some of the new Pendraken figures on Deep Fried Happy Mice, and was blown away by how exquisite the sculpts of these Austrians were, and then ordered some and they were just as impressive in the hand. That was me sold on 10mm. It seems like the quality of sculpting took a huge leap around the release of these figures, possibly around 1999/2000?

Is that when you started sculpting Clib? ;D

Possibly, I'm not sure when Tony started sculpting for us?  We've had a variety of sculptors over the years, some good, some not so much, so there was a lot more variety across the ranges in the early days.  But we've been very fortunate over the past 15 years or so and I'm pretty confident that we've now got the best 10mm sculptors in the business today!

Funnily enough that's around the time I first tried sculpting, though I tried with miliput, not being aware of greenstuff.  Results were every rough, and I didn't like working with it. So I gave it up and didn't try again for another 10 years. Totally different experience with greenstuff/procreate. That said when I look back on the results I did get with miliput they were actually not bad for a first go, but I retain the disdain for miliput to this day. Its actually useful for certain tasks, but I hate the messiness of using it.

I found that original DFHM review page is still up! And is has some pics of the WSS figs I didn't like on it too.
