Lindybeige and The Mighty Jingles have made YouTube videos for The Tank Museum talking about their top 5 tanks.

Lindbeige has S-tank, Jagdpanther, WWI Mk IV, Universal Carrier, Churchill (5 to 1)
The Might Jingles offers Panther, T34, Chieftain, Centurion, TOG2 (5 to 1)

Now, I know we've done things like this before, but what are your 5 favourite armoured vehicles and why? Not which are the best, but which ones do you feel the most affection for? The reason I ask, is that it's bloomin' difficult. Here's mine - can you guess what will be no 1?

5 Daimler Dingo Scout Car Whizzy little vehicle.
4 FT17 First "proper" tank design (with a turret) and for longevity without apparent merit.
3 Panzer IV Overshadowed by the Panther and Tiger, the Pz IV is one of the few tanks that fought throughout the war (1939-45) and showed  a great capacity for upgrade.
2 Churchill If only it had a wider turret ring, it could have been the British Tiger. A tank that did what it was supposed to do, and was the basis of so many Funnies.
1 Centurion  :x First modern MBT (arguably) with a long history and ... it looks cool.

i)    Crusader III - looks so graceful and elegant, has to be here.
ii)   Tiger I - scares the hell out of anyone on the tabletop.
iii)  (tie for third place) Grant/Lee, and the WWI British original - triumphs of ungainly design.
v)   The Hussite battle waggon - would be in first place, but doesn't have tracks, so technically doesn't count.
I don't drink coffee to wake up. I wake up to drink coffee.

I) KV2. It is just so incredibly ugly, breaking all the rules of design, that it becomes cool!
2) French WW1 St Chamond. Another design where you immediately think 'How did anyone ever come up with that!?
3) Matilda 1. I think there is a theme emerging here. Looks like it emerged from the factory before they had time to finish it. How it carries the same name as the lump that was Matilda 2 completely foxes me.
4) any of the Crusader marks.  That angular turret is iconic.
5) A7V.  An early variant of Dr Who's Mechanoids, decades ahead of its time, if it ever had a time! There had to be a reason why they built so few  ;)

We are asked for 5 favourite armoured vehicles. According  to my dictionary  a thing used for transporting people or goods, especially on land, such as a car, truck, or cart. so I might be forgiven for going for a Seleucid armoured elephant, followed by similar variations. Sticking more to the spirit of the question, I might be persuaded to include the Panther and Hetzer WWII types, cos I like the shapes.

fsn

Panther and Hetzer are pretty.   :-[
