A Tale of Four Gamers - the Sequel

Well, as Leon threw down the gauntlet of setting up a new 'topic', how could I refuse :D?

So reflecting upon the original reason I set up the topic, namely of one of trying to set achievable deadlines on painting and modelling projects a la the White Dwarf, I freely confess I failed dismally. However the topic was one the generated a lot of interest, so it must be counted as a success. I have greatly enjoyed reading how fellow forum members have progressed with their projects and have admired their output without fail.

Over the past few months I have been giving a lot of thought to what periods do I really enjoy gaming and with what armies (more of this in the future). This has led my to start culling projects that realistically never see the light of day, thus allowing me to focus on stuff I really enjoy. This has frankly been quite cathartic :). As a result I have (famous last words) been able to maintain my focus of late.

To this end to kick this 'new' topic off, I am aiming to finish off my Fallshirmjager battlegroup for BKCII that I started a year or so ago, so that I can finally get in some games set in NWE that I have been planning for some time.

So now over to my august fellow forum members...

I have been working on my FPW for 6 years and only deviating a bit to do some 1:2400 WWII ships.

I have all the Imperial Corps; Gd, !st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 12th. Plus the artillery reserve and cavalry reserve.  Just finished the 22nd and 23rd Corps - the Northern Army and am starting on the 15th and 16th Corps of the southern group.  Probably will stop there, but who knows.

For the Prussians I have the Gd, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 14th and the Gd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 12th cavalry..  Working on the 6th and coming up to the 1st and 2nd Cavalry divisions, the 17th division and the Gd, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Landwehr.

Of course with my scale it is not as much as it looks: infantry regiment of 8 figures, cavalry regiment of 4.  2 batteries are represented with 2 guns, 5 crew and 1 caisson with 2 horse.

Should keep me going for another year.

Fallschirmjager A/T guns all done, bar a bit of a dry brush here and there (waiting for the wash to dry) and then lacquer. So a load of flocking beckons over the enxt few days plus applying camo etc to the StuG IIIs that will be the main AFVs for the Battalion.

Bear in mind it's only a theory. Also please continue to post piccies, but make em as small as possible, and avoid monochrome ones.

I am one of those wargamers for whom the phrase 'butterfly interest' was originally coined. At the moment I am colourflaging my Epic chaps for use as an alien invasion of Earth army. On mt painting table there are a number of ongoing projects, 10mm Polish Medieval and Renaissance, 10mm SciFi, 10mm Mongols, and 6mm Macedonian. However, just because they are there that doesn't automatically mean that they will get painted...yet. I do have other projects in mind but that's as far as they have got at the moment. What doesn't help is that writing takes up a fair chunk of my time so I just potter really. Ten or fifteen years ago I would have knocked out the Not Epic stuff in a couple of days but so far it has taken me a week just to do 20 APC's and 3 MLRS!

Sorry, I was probably being obtuse. Of course I know what a monochrome is, I have one in my bathroom. I am just surprised that they take up more space ... or am I? Is it something to do with black being made up of the other three colours? Don't know enough about how pictures are stored, but if each pixel is allocated an RGB value then surely all pictures should take up the same space?

Any proper Technos out there that can shed some light on this conundrum? In English - not Tekkie.

I've just looked back at my OP's on the Original thread...... :o

29.08.2012 Finish my 28mm SAGA Scots  :-[ :-[ These are still sat in the cupboard awaiting 'inspiration' :'(

10.09.2012 Make a start on a 10mm Arthurian British force  :o These were sold last month on flea bay, based and undercoated but unpainted having languished unloved for three years.

On the bright side, I have made excellent progress in three years with my 28mm WW2 Germans and have built up quite a considerable force. I also finished those 10mm Polish/Lithiuanian Renaissance Figures a long time ago.

As to plans for this month? Lets just say I'm keeping my options open!
I don't think my wife likes me very much, when I had a heart attack she wrote for an ambulance.

Asked someone with more tec knowledge dan moi last night. He thinks that rather than space per see, the problem with ATOFG original may be in the relationships, particularly those between the forum display and picture storage.

Hope that's some help.

Maybe, to keep the thread to a sensible size, we could regenerate it annually?

Cheers!

You know, this thread isn't as good as the old one.  :(
