Camps

In DBA each army or command in Big Battles DBA needs a Camp. I decided to go with pack camels on 80x40 bases.
For this project I need 8 camps so decided to get them out of the way at the beginning

The first four

The second four

Camp Followers

In some circumstances the camp followers or denizens of a BUA (Built up area) can sally forth so I put together a couple of elements in case they are needed

As we will be using these troops infrequently and each army has several different troop types I have decided to use a small label to identify the troop type

Denizens? Those look like inhabitants.

What have you used for the basing material Paul?

d_Guy

Great looking!  Continue to admire your use of muted colour - very realistic.
Like also all those guys named Dennis was it?  :)
This is the camel group that doesn't have the satellite dishes right? Or did I miss them?

Definitely some "frying pans" or whatever amongst them.

1st Camel picture - near column 2 & 4, back column 4

3rd Camel picture - near column 1 & 3, rear column 2 & 3

Suitably dark, metallic disk.

Thanks Paul - see them now and pretty easy to spot, too - apparently thought the were going to be aluminum (or something) and looked right past them.  :)

Cast iron that has been sitting on top of a fire for years was the look I was after ;)

What have you used for the basing material Paul?

I used a mix of wall filler (spackle), paint and PVA to cover the base then dip in a mix of various sand type 'flocks', mainly Woodland scenics. The brown rocks are from Cloud9 and are sprinkled on before the dip

If you want I will rummage in my flock draw and let you know the various flocks

I washed the Syrian mounted last night and the mail has come out nicely :)
Silver highlights, final dusty dry brush and figure bases left to do, I better crack on with their bases :!!

Touched up the base coat on the Syrian foot this morning before heading off to work :)
