This lot are being  right bloody pests....
Asking 3 or 4 times a day if I want to allow them to make changes to my computer.

All I can discover, is that the program appears to be 'something' to do with MS Office....So I'll give a miss....Thank you, SO much.

Is there any way I can block just these particular 'pop-ups'.
There seems to be a 'filter' I can adjust. But as far as I can make out, that will block any requests to make changes to the PC....And there are a handful of bona fide programs that I'm quite happy to get updated when the companies ask.....e.g. the external hard drives.

Any suggestions gang ?

Cheers - Mr Technophobe.

Sounds very dodgy, I'm not getting anything like that. Google them, and obviously make sure your AV stuff is up to date. Run a scan as well, just in case.

Do you have an anti malware program like Malwarebytes ? Check that is all running ok to

Hello Phil

Kingsoft puts out WPS which is an Office substitute. Maybe delete any kingsoft or wps files and do a malware scan. Here is a page on a virus tied to the kingsoft office update http://www.herdprotect.com/updateself.exe-7a71c76604ecdc5e7e8e547bb7846a4f9b697de7.aspx. Not at home at the moment but will look later. Use something reputable  like malwarebytes rather than anything recommended on pages (including the one i just listed).

Cheers

Drastic measures are sometimes the most effective!

And inded that doesn't work.

Maybe Phil should get a cat?

petercooman

are you sure it's not a hardware problem?

Do you all remember a short while ago when Phil was getting a new computer and then all his problems would be solved ?????

Done......Did a full system scan with Norton......Nothing found, at all...Not even a tracking cookie.
I assume Norton checks for any Malware ?

Lord Kermit of Birkenhead

Should do, but it may need updating (and then let Win 10 in)

It's bang up to date, Ian....(Well, it says the last updates were done yesterday......Must have been doing that while I was doing the full scan; as it wouldn't have been able to upload anything to me from yesterday afternoon.....PAH !! )

I'll wait until the next PC, before I go for '10'......Hopefully this machine will last a few years yet.  ;)

Thanks for the help, Gang !
