I recently was given a box of 25mm Renaissance figures as a freebie (this generosity was coutesy of a chap who had been storing his old figures in a cupboard since leaving college).

I'm turning them from a pile of loose miniatures in a cardboard box into an army on the tabletop and documenting my journey on the Tring Club blog http://tringwargames.blogspot.co.uk/2016/07/old-school-ottoman-army-at-tring-club.html

2017 Paint-Off - Winner!

Last Hussar

I received 25mm (PROPER 25mm) ECW from the same collection.  I haven't done anything other than base them (and replace some missing pikes) - Mostly because I am impatient! but partly because I want to get them gamable - If I start washing a) I'll worry that I'll ruin them (also apeaer to be enamels) and 2) I could lose interest halfway through, and Sj skillfully filleted, I mean dissuaded them away from another club member, so it would be rude of me if they languished in the garage.

Actually I am liking the 'old school' feel of them - I have based for Peter Pigs Regiment of foot, and where they put 4 15mm I have 2 25mm, so in try wargame scale I've got 600 men represented by 10 figures, plus the simple enamel painting has a nostaglia feel.

Pictures when I have the table clear enough to lay them out - I have about 80 bases of infantry and 21 cavalry.
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

So when do we get to play with them?

Could you get a bit of Baroque in, pretend the ECW are just after the 30YW Hapsburgs and the Ottomans are, err, same period Ottomans?! Bang them on the table and go!

I've been recommended a couple of different rulesets for the period, so was going to try that out soon, using Last Hussar's ECW as some sort of European or other.
