Though it'll have to be shipped over to Nobby, so he can chew it, first.
(We must retain tradition, after all.)  ;)

MmmMMmmm ... transatlantic salty!

"Salty" in my native land is an Afrikaans term of mild derision for a local white English-speaker, a "soutie" (pr. so, a needle pulling thread, tie, a drink with jam and bread, stress on the first syllable, which Maria can't help with). The idea is one foot in Africa, one foot in Europe, and a bit getting salty by dangling in the ocean in the middle.

Useless but amusing information for the day.

Sorry Guy.

Not sure if this another of our little foibles that you haven't come across yet.

Anyway.........Just in case.

You'll occasionally see one of our esteemed members being asked to collect his coat (usually for a pun, or a really bad joke)....Or get just the word  "Coat !" in the follow on post.

Sometimes you'll notice that after one of the above...The writer will say "I'll collect me own coat." (Before I leave)

Before the coat is returned (As well as being one of the designers, I've apparently been promoted to 'coat monitor', as well).....I usually ask Nobby to clean said coat by giving it a good chew.

Hope that makes sense. (You knew we were as mad as a box of frogs already.)  ;)

It comes from two routes:
1) the glorious BBC comedy sketch show 'The Fast Show', where a character would make increasingly horrific faux pas, before realising quite what he had done, and uttering the line:
I'll get me coat!

2) The early 20th century music hall/theatre tradition where if an act 'died' on stage (went down badly with the crowd) as they would leave the stage they would be advised to get their coat (and don't come back)!
