You have a valid point, perhaps 50 x 40mm or maybe even 50 x 30mm may have been better but I decided that as all of my other 10mm armies are on 60 x 40mm bases with 3 bases to a unit I would stay with this and sort out rule sets at a later date. (And I have a lot of 60 x 40 bases but none of the other size so that was really the clincher.) I agree that with close order troops the clue is in the name and sometimes they look better for being tighter on the base but I wanted as many different types as I could get. As Pendraken deal in packs and for financial reasons I went with the notion of having a maximum of one pack per unit so as to reduce the number of spare figures left over at the end of the project. Consequently the numbers are 30 'battle line' infantry, 12-15 skirmishing infantry, 12-15 HC/MC, 9-12 LC etc in a single unit.

However, for the Swedes/30YW/ECW units I intend to keep the same matchlock numbers but have 3 ranks of pike on a 60 x 40. I have brought some inexpensive 2mm modelling tubes for the standards to make the units interchangeable depending on the game. This means that effectively I can get 4 infantry units from 3 matchlock and 2 pike packs with a small unit of commanded matchlocks or skirmishers made up from the remaindrer.

The command base of the first banner of 10mm Polish Renaissance husaria and a group shot. As usual there are more clickable pictures including some better ones of the infantry units completed to date on the blog.



Sorry that the first picture is a bit 'in yer face' but I don't know to reduce it so it's a better fit. If anyone else knows how, be my guest.

As to changing the size of the pictures, you can edit the first of the tags with width= or height=

I usually start with width=500 and preview it then adjust up or down as needed.

Looks like this - [img width=500]  NB no spacing either side of the equals sign.
