Game two in the zombie campaign.

"This has been a weird couple of days" said lieutenant Rexler to himself.

The leader of the swat team got out of the car and immediately flipped the safety off his weapon.

"Higgins, provide cover from behind that car back there, Jones, perkins, stay sharp and watch that door!"

He and his team had been involved in various incidents the last 48 hours, from domestic violence gone out of control, to the local doomsayer shooting all around town square shouting 'Repent sinners, the day has come'. They have put down dozens of people seemingly insane. An empty look in their eyes. Some claim it's a disease spreading, some say it's youths brainwashed by their smartphones, some say it's drugs, and the regular loonies claim it's aliens again.

Matter of fact is,nobody knows what's going on. Rexler has seen seemingly Dead men rise again, and others refusing to die. Yesterday he emptied an entire clip into someone's abdomen, and he just kept walking.

This was your worst nightmare.

He was almost happy to have this call, a silent alarm at a small bank. Just your regular robbery, he thought, something normal.

Rexler and his team stood there waiting, watching the door. There were only four of them, police forces stretched thin in these days, so they are all that can be spared.

Suddenly the door swung open, eerily slow. A man got through the door, dressed in a security guard uniform. It stood in front of the building, an empty look in its eyes. Behind him two others slowly came out.Rexler shouted the order to halt and show their hands. They let out a low growl, and lunged forward.

Here we go again, said rexler and ordered his men to fire.

forces:   Swat: lieutenant rexler (smg;pistol), officers jones and perkins (smg, pistol) and Higgins (Swat sniper with hunting rifle and pistol)

zombies: 18 regular Z'S and two fast zombie dogs

objectives:

Zombies: eat swat team
Swat team : survive and dispose of all zombies.

The team  guarding the bank entrance

Groups of zeds spread over the board:

And the dogs at the team's right

Higgins manages a headshot on his first shot of the game. The rest of the team can't stop the zeds from making it to their line

The dogs hear the gunfire and sprint towards the sound

Attacked by th dogs from behind, the team are forced to abandon their position, but the zombies follow up.

Luckily perkins can swiftly despatch the zombies in melee, while higgins puts down a dog before being rushed by the other one.

The rest of the zombies hear the gunfire

Jones manages to put down the second dog while the rest of the zombies keep drawing closer

When a group appears on his right, rexler immediately guns one down

While Perkins shoots the arm off of one

Higgins has chosen his spot and takes another one down

But the team's position is compromised.

The team falls back, but rexler keeps firing and puts one down

and another

He lures them through a tight spot (a flamethrower would have been handy)

They take down two while they retreat

And one more when they pass the corner

They tighten their firing line and start putting the hurt on the zombies

The zombies keep going, riddled with bulletholes.

But the heavy fire is taking its toll

And soon the last ones fell to the ground, lifeless (again)

Another great game! As suspected the Swat team was better at handling the situation as their fellow officers in last battle. The only time they really got in trouble was when the dogs got the jump on them, forcing them to redeploy instead of pouring fire into the Z's. Luckily for the sniper, the dog missed it's attack so no damage was taken. I'm thinking that they wil be a real threath when i have the full pack of 10 dogs painted and on  the table!!

Can zombies hear? I'd have though the auditory system of the walking and decomposing dead would break down very rapidly.

For me, in a world without magic walking dead zombies make no sense whatever!  So worrying about ANY facet of real-world biology is surely kind of, umm, pointless?!  :-\

;)

I see zombies every time i have an early shift, don't see any magicians around though!

FierceKitty

My query was prompted by the reference to a zombie response to the sound of firearms.

Yes, the rules for the sounds of gunshots are used straigth from the ruleset, didn't come up with it myself!

FierceKitty

I'm sure the rule-writer was a more learned annecrologist than I am.

What minis & scenery are those? I'm still looking for some good minis for the 'Riot!' rules... unarmed but beligerent civilians & police, preferably in 10mm. Those look good.

Last Hussar

Best way to deal with a zombie is to kick it to death, that way no more are attracted by the gun fire.

Works in wargaming too.
I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

The mini's are Pendraken......The 'cops' are the sci-fi marines (if I'm not mistaken)....And the zombies certainly look like the 'ones wot I dun.'
Buildings I can't help you with...But I'm sure Peter will be along soon, to tell you.  ;)
