The world is definitely becoming a poorer place!

A real shame as I loved a few of his songs. Quite young once again.

Yes great shame., and quite young, although I am comming to the conclusion that we have been sold the myth that we should all live to 80 and beyond.  Perhaps in reality  its still the three score years and 10 for most of us.

I think its also the age of the forum.  Most of us are 50+ so those people who were famous when we were young are all getting to 70 plus

  Sad news indeed. Brilliant at times, weird (but arguably, groundbreaking) at others. So influential. Truly a great artist.

Life expectancy in my great and good country has dropped below 50 by now.

It is likely that his lifestyle earlier in his career probably had an effect on his life expectancy, but the brightest candle often burns shortest.

Him and Lemmy in the same couple of weeks. If there was any kind of afterlife the music would be bloody awesome.
