I can just picture a big knob in Transport Scotland telling the office junior to nip out and hire a unused car ferry, there's bound to be one kicking around somewhere.

Great, so its been 4.30am starts every day this week and not home until 8.30 earliest. But tomorrow is Saturday and I'm not on duty *thinks* roaring fire, bottle of Latour, long lie, hot bath .... but the last case tonight needs emergency surgery so its operating until 11.00pm and an all night shift in recovery, FFS this is sheer cruelty ... sniff

Crossed the rail bridge twice today, once in each direction before anyone gets smart!

Train to Fife this morning was about half full, the one back home at 9pm-ish was all but empty. Maybe half a dozen or so in the same carriage as me. Clearly all in when you are trying to cross. Trains running in the opposite direction this morning looked packed.

Apparently Scotrail (aka Abellio) have contracted with Southern (aka DB Schenker) to hire extra locomotive & rolling stock to add to capacity. Catch is the said vehicles are in Eastleigh.
