I just wanted to check I got this right, before I started painting.

Is one of the rhinos facing the wrong way ?
That's the only thing I can see that might not be correct.

What are you doing, the infantry is not entrenched!

Thanks Peter, its your great knowledge of this era, that will help this project be all it should be.

All that is missing are the haggi!

Good point. Phil hasn't sculpted them yet.

You try telling a Rhino to face the right way  :o

I am disappointed that no-one has pointed out that these are 18pdrs, not 25pdrs. With this kind of laisez faire attitude to historical accuracy what hope is there.

Well, in those times the steel was much heavier, so what looks like an 18 pd shell, was actually a 25 pd shell. Something to do with all the lighter metals being used for the armour, as it was to hard to get out of the trench to countercharge when the armour was made of heavier metal.

I had thought that you knew this and had intentionally used the as-heavy-as-25-pdr -18pdrs, to be historically accurate. So you're telling me it was just sheer luck it turned out just about ok?

Good!

Now only thing left to add are the mercenary samurai with laser gatlings and you are good to go!!!

Empire vs Undead

Played a big battle on Friday night - Empire vs Undead, 2 players a side, using our home brewed rules. We got about 2/3rd of the way through the game, and have left it set up for next week - but I have realised that I can't go out this Friday to play  :'(

The undead hordes surge forward

The Empire Artillery - ready to open fire

The undead cavalry about to charge!

My flank towards the end of the night. I have seen off 1 brigade of undead cavalry, but am facing rather a lot of undead infantry coming up.

But the cavalry has made it round the rear - will it be able to cause enough carnage or not!

Great looking game and a very nice windmill.

Thanks chaps. The human figures are mine, the undead mainly belong to one of the others in our group. And the table and terrain to a third (along with some of the undead). I think the windmill is the Forgeworld one, that goes for stupid money on eBay.

That board and the size of those armies are impressive!  What were your home brewed rules based off of, if anything?  Really awesome pictures, thanks for sharing!

Thanks - the table is 9'x6', and fills most of a double garage. Personally I find it a little too deep, perhaps because it is quite high (most of my gaming mates are tall!).

I think that the two of us who brought figures, could probably put the same again on the table. And two of the other players could probably have put similar amounts of Empire and Undead on the table too. We have insane amounts of WM stuff - mostly bought a while ago before prices went mad!

The rules are based of so many different things, that I'm not sure what I'd describe them as the child of. Warmaster and Kings of War are both in the lineage. But the game is d10 based, command is perhaps more like Epic. And there is even the odd bit we have come up with ourselves. We've been moving forward with it for a year or more, and we still keep changing quite significant parts.

Knights & Rhinos

Managed to get the new Flodden men at arms sprayed at the weekend (between rain) and have got some paint on them the last couple of days.

Basically a dry brush of silver, with a weapon shafts in orange/brown and some green for livery.

In the distance are the 3 new Rhinos to go with the existing 3 - should give a bit of solidity to the Taurians.

Put some feathers on those boys and they would be great dismounted Reiksguard!  Those models are looking quite awesome.  Did you buy any chance also buy the Duke of Surrey or James IV in your Flodden collection?
