Probably bareheaded, don't you think? Certainly wouldn't want the headsman to botch the stroke.  :o

Epic - Marines vs Tyranids

Played Epic on Friday night - a fun game.

These are a couple of snaps from mid-game. The Green Space Marines weren't doing too well. They are hemmed into their starting corner, and are about to be eaten, by my red 'nids.

Over on the far side the Red Space Marines are chasing after the purple 'nids which are busy running away from them, and trying to get in on beating up the Green SM.

The game finished with the total destruction of the Green SM, the Red ones had barely been engaged by my ally.

It was much fun for me, but perhaps helped as I was shovelling enemy troops off, while making all my armour saves!

At one point the SM tanks put 8 hits on 3 of my large 'nids that count as tanks - the first 2 both made all 3 of their saves, the 3rd one failed. So 1 dead.

In a later combat, I close assaulted a mess of marines and transport, scored 8 hits, and I think only 1 of them made their save. Their return attacks were equally hopeless - all of these only needing 4+ on a d6.

2016 Painting Competition - People's Choice!

Thanks chaps.

I'm really enjoying painting 10mm again after messing around with 28mm over the summer. One of the reasons is the speed at which units can be created. I am also making an effort to finish stuff off rather than having lots of half projects.

Those water elementals look fantastic!  Along with everything else.  Those Knights Panther are also great looking.  Too bad GW never really made Warhammer ones.

Thanks for sharing picks of your battles.  Looks like you have a great gaming group. I know very little about epic but it looks like it lives up to its name!

fred.

Thanks Tiberius. The water elementals have come out nicely - the new sculpts are very nice, and look very good with simple painting techniques.

I only discovered Epic this year (about 15 years late, but oh well!) it does give good, big battles, that play pretty quickly. You have to kind of get your head into the technology / relative effectiveness of stuff - one of our group who is really into WWII finds Epic a bit odd, in that bugs can take on tanks, and win quite handily. The hardest thing with Epic is trying to work out which of the several versions it the one to go with. As the main people playing it have been playing it since day 1, I don't think they have really thought about making it accessible for new comers.

Cleaned up a few of the new figures, mainly new Flodden foot men-at-arms. Hopefully get these sprayed soon, if it ever stops raining.
