Phil - The figures are harder than the polythene style - they are pretty rigid - but do repose well in hot water. So I'm not sure what material they are.

Peter - I will give a wash / army painter thing a go - there is a lot of detail in the figures, and it would be good to be able to see it better, the monochrome and shininess of the figures makes it quite hard to see as is.

Its also good to know about the D&D games - if DS goes down well might look at some of those next year. But considering the amount of stuff in DS, it might take a long time to play through all the scenarios.

What can i say, i'm pretty hooked on them. Between the 4 base games (all stand alone by the way), the 5 dungeon command sets (wich have cards in them to use the minis in the base games), and the fan made content over at BGG, you can keep going for a while, eiither solo or up to 5 players!

I just received my copy of the d&d 5th edition starterset today, going to look at 'melting' te rpg rules with the board games, to get even more out of them (more levelling and such)

But don't trust my opinion, i'm a fanboy  :d

If you want to see how it goes, there's plenty of gameplay video's on the tube!

Pendraken Parcel, Pendraken Parcel!!

<:-P >:< :-bd

Received a little box from Pendraken today (I actually think it arrived yesterday, but only found it outside the backdoor this morning). Makes a nice change to get a box rather than the usual jiffy bag - I had to read the franking label to know it was from Pendraken.

And the reason for it being in a box

The new Flodden men-at-arms

these look really good - and I hope they will paint in nice and quickly with all that plate armour.

I'm glad the 'hammer' came out of the mould as it did.
I thought that might cause a casting prob for Dave.

I enjoyed doing those 'knighty' type men-at-arms...They were fun !
Look forward to seeing them painted up, Forbes.  :)

That Landsknechty swordsman - and indeed the old one (LAN3), which is an excellent figure - would both lend themselves very well to an execution scene. Is there any sort of kneeling bareheaded figure in a shirt that could serve as the malefactor?

There is a bare headed medic in the WWI accessories range, who is in a kneeling pose, head slightly forward. Might work.

The LAN3 guy is kind of at the point of beheading. The above guy is kind of ready and waiting. Some of the command and squires figures would work for this diorama too.

Yep, I needed a mounted wizard figure for my 28mm forces, and the Gandalf ones were cheap on eBay.

Can't find one right now, as I need to go to work.

But I did use this figure on a painting comp entry, next to a medical M3 half track

Hmmm. Must give this some thought.

If I can find another of the kneeling figure, tomorrow, I'll put him together with the knights.

Another option might be from Boer War / colonial gun crews, who are likely to be in shirt sleeves, but may well have head gear.
