I just saw on the Revell forum that they are releasing a 1/144 Flower Class Corvette, due October 2015:-



Also on Kampfgruppe, Armory are bringing out a Bf-109 A/B and a Polikarpov I-15Bis (to be really accurate I should be talking about a Caproni (Biggles in Spain) but I'm too tired to come up with another snappy title)

Yes, I have been marking this Revell model for some time.  In 1/144  at 0.694% of 205ft  or 1ft = 2.10mm ,  43 cm is bang on the money.  That's a lot of tableroom

Pendragon do a shortened version in resin (26cm) if you want a neater one for the size of the table. I modified mine for post war with a new suoerstructure, modern masts and a 4.5" turret.  It has also the option for a Shorts Seacat launcher midships. 

The Irish Navy retained three Flower Class  corvettes  until 1970 as did a number of minor navies.  The online  images provide good inspiration for modernisation

I hope you all noticed I addressed the news to Naval Megalomaniacs  .

Yes, too big to be an active participant but I see these large models as more of a base, entry point or exit objective. I've used the old Zhong Shan in a number of 'Sand Pebbles' type engagements as such - similar to the fort in Pony Wars.

The large static warship has its function.   The smaller models allow the aspects such as disembarking raiders and shore bombardments to feature on the table. 

Or just old fashioned gun boat diplomacy ?
