Today we start a five-player 3rd crusade campaign. I shall be GMing it, but controlling the Seljuks and the Ayyubids. Richard and Philip already distrust each other on account of a total failure of diplomacy during the 17th century campaign of last time.
Wish I had half a dozen packs of TB medievals to round things out.

Heavens - it's over already. Went by the book: Richard took Cyprus, Acre fell as expected, Guy became King of Cyprus, Richard and Philip were both killed in a ruinous defeat at Arsouf...ok, not quite 100% by the book.
Shortest campaign on record.

How well did the rules work?

I bought them a while ago but never got round to playing them as I don't have any 28mm Crusade figures and couldn't be bothered to work out how to use Warmaster bases for DV.

However I'm about 2/3 of the way through rebasing some 10mm WMA Crusader and Saracen figures for SAGA Crescent & Cross but the bases could possibly be used for DV if the rules are good enough.

In C&C I'm using 9-13 point warbands and two warbands per side, this gives a decent number of figures on the table and the SAGA battleboards and mechanics work very well at this scale and figure density.

The name is an overlap. Home-made rules; when I wrote them I wasn't aware of the commercial set. Happy to send you a copy, if they're any use to you.

Battle of Arsuf; picture shows players more than the game. Left to right. Viljar Sojland - Philip; Me, holding Valentine Hanuman Siegfried Yoshinaka - games master and moral support; Mike Seely - Master of the Temple; and Anutra Bunnag, Master of the Hospital. Richard was taking the pictures and so not in them.

Thank you for the kind offer, but I'm trying to not use any new rule sets at the moment, I feel that I need to learn and understand the rules I'm using before I flit off and try something new.
