Anyone got, or use the 'ordinary' version of this......Not the mega bucks professional version(s).

Just want to know if it's relatively straightforward to work with.
Mrs Techno wants to get this......Not me.
(She has got lots more patience than I have, with anything of this ilk..... :-[)

I have version 5.5 which I still use - easy to pick up takes some time to really master.

I would suggest downloading GIMP - which is basically a photoshop rip off and is free.

I used to use a company called Serrif for DTP software and they were very good.

They used to give an unconditional 30 day  moneyback Guarantee. - not sure if they still do this
Also do other edditoing softeware - movies, webdesign, DTP

Once your on thier books upgrades are cheap and you get special offers

Photo shop is quite easy to use . As with everything the more you use it the better you get. There are a host of uTube tutorials to aid in this progression

Not a great art package user as I can never get my head round layers and masks, but I have downloaded gimp for free and it seems very similar
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

Ithoriel

I'd second The Gimp as a good basic, free package.

I use it a lot and find it easy to use.

If you get it and don't like it, it's still worth more than you paid for it :)

I struggle with Photoshop but I think that's a PEBCAK problem!

Don't let a Scotsman hear you say that if he's close enough to strangle you with his plaid. It means "of the location with the same name as his surname (which you've just heard)". It has a function, and should not be twisted by the Sassenachs into a redundant and pretentious synonym for "kind" or "type".

Well my tuppence worth is Paint Shop Pro is a much easier to learn alternative to Photoshop

Luddite

My tuppence worth is that I'm going to stand next to a Scotsman and say 'ilk'.  Just to see what happens.

"You look. I don't like sludge like you. In fact, it wouldn't break my heart at all to scrape the street clean of your ilk. You know what an 'ilk' is, don't you?"
" A big deer."
"Yeah. Now, if I catch you loitering around my precinct again I'm gonna shoot me an ilk. You understand?"

I use Photoshop for all my design work and I find it fairly easy to use.  It can take a while to get used to, and I rely on tutorials for more complicated jobs, but as a general photo editor it's very good.

I think Mrs T is going to try one of the recommended free ones, first....As has been said above, she won't lose anything if she doesn't like the downloaded programme.

Still recovering from our efforts in trying to get a new photo-printer to work yesterday.

It kept telling us it wouldn't work wirelessly (?)....and told us to use a USB cable.....Neither of us had a hope in hell's chance of understanding what it was going on about to check, re a wireless connection.
Fortunately I could steal a compatible cable from the existing, old, 'ordinary' printer...(There  wasn't a cable supplied)...So we went through the set up twice with that.
We gave up after the second attempt.
Again, it was telling us it wasn't working.....Something was wrong.

*I'll phone Cannon, tomorrow", said I....."Just hit exit"

Mrs T hits 'exit'.

"Congratulations....You have successfully installed the printer."

Give me strength.. >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(.....I'm now wondering if the wireless connection worked, as well........The pretty little connection light is coming on, after all

I HATE computery (sic) stuff.
