Too cold for painting last night so started thinking about my Guilford Courthouse scenario.

As I have already asked in another thread, does anyone have any good information on the density of trees at Guilford Courthouse? I have seen at least one source that indicates the American second line was in a particularly dense part of the forest. If so I'm trying to work out why :-\

Roughly in the words of the song (exact title/artist I can't remember sorry) about the Battle of New Orleans

"We fired our guns.....but the British kept a coming.....
We fired them again.....and there were a lot less of them than there was a whle ago..."

Thanks to the American left wing throwing mainly sixes for about three turns in a row Lord Cornwallis's forces were considerably reduced, with the Grenadier Guards having to provide the rearguard to enable the remnants of his force to withdraw.

Took laptop along so even had enough time to show off some tankp*rn from recent trip to Europe, though the audience wasn't quite so interested in Mrs Shy's Jane Austen related stuff  ;)

Have to say again that the troops and terrian look brilliant and V&B rules work very well.

For the record I played the American right wing, dispite firing off masses of powder I think I only removed one stand of Tarlton's Legion cavalry.

Seems I have finally done enough to get a second pip.....cor blimey  :o

Well done on the promotion!
My FRancoPrussian project started as a V&B army. Love those rules, just everyone round here preferred BP! :(

As I mentioned in another thread one of the two annual Wellington coventions, Call to Arms, is on 16-17 August. We will be doing the Affair at Nery, 1 September 1914 on the Sunday.

For the Saturday we decided to do something AWI, particularly as Keith McNelly (of the Volley & Bayonet page) is Coming up from Christchurch to play in the Sunday DBA competition and was looking for something to do on the Saturday

So I was looking at what scenario we should do  :-\ one particular battle suggested itself, answers on the back of a postcard...

I wasn't sure if I had enough troops but after having a look at an order of battle put together by Jeff Glasco and what troops I have painted I was pleasantly surprised  :o :)

I will have to do a few substitutions for the British, mainly because I haven't painted units I need but have enough troops  :)

For the Americans I am 5 stands of Militia short, partly because the British need to borrow 2 stands :(
But I have everything else :-\

80 Militia figures by 16 August :!! :!! :!!

I cleaned the limited flash off the first 16 this morning before heading out to work ;)
