need some help with Microsoft office 2007 :-/

I have a document roughly 100 pages in length, and I am having a problem numbering the pages.

There is a front cover page which has no number and two contents pages which I want to number i and ii the next page would be number 1. I have tried using the footer but it will only copy the same number or letter for all pages, also tried using page number function but it only numbers the pages 1-100 in consecutive order

any help would be appreciated from those in the know

Ah!

Are you familiar with sections?

At the end of your title page insert a section break (next page). Insert another after the end of your index.

In the footer insert a page number. You'll have to do this for each section. Use Quick Parts on the Insert menu and choose "section Pages". This should allow you to number and format each section separately.

I've not done this ... but it should work.

If it doesn't PM me.

fred.

That sounds right.

You might have to change the page number options to Start Again from 1 (rather than continue from last section)

2012 Painting Competition - 2 x Runner-Up
2016 Painting Competition - 1 x Runner-Up!

Indeed so.

You can format each section so it's i in section 1 and 1 in section 2.
