I will miss his surreal view of life.

I hope his death was as peaceful as is possible.

As the Nac Mac Feegle might have said."Och! Jings, crivens! Whut a man." If the feegles are right, enjoy your reincarnation Mr. Pratchett.

I loved the compassion in his books  :)

As far as I am concerned he was card carrying genius when it came to writing popular fiction. What a shame;. he brought a special kind of joy to millions which is unlikely to be repeated.

Really sad news.   :(

It was only a couple of weeks ago that I bought my eldest The Colour of Magic to get him into Pratchett, and judging by the constant giggles from his room I think he's enjoyed it.

It is sad. I have never read a single word he wrote, but I have seen the effect he has had on others, and the fun he has spread. He seems to have had a knack for challenging people and entertaining them at the same time. Perhaps, now, I will have to find out what it was all about!

Haven't read many of his books but enjoyed every word of those I did. A great loss but lives on in his literature.

I have most of his books and re-read them from time to time. There's always something that makes me chuckle.

When I told our librarian at work,  she said "thank God", I said why?  She said: he had a great and compassionate mind,  thank God he didn't end up a gibbering wreck.

I agree wholeheartedly  :)

I don't think my wife likes me very much, when I had a heart attack she wrote for an ambulance.

Bought The Colour of Magic when it first came out in the early 80's, that and The Light Fantastic contained just about all the D&D jokes and steriotypes there are.

Realy enjoyed how his writing style and ideas have developed over the last 30 odd years, some of his books were mediocre, some good and some brilliant but always interesting.

I'll miss him

Lord Kermit of Birkenhead

Met him twice - completely barking but a great guy. That he could write up to last year was excellent. Will be much missed.

Feeling sad today at the news.

I was reading my first Discworld book beside my mum's bedside when she died so brought back memories. Went on to read all his books and they have brought me great pleasure over the years.

If you have time check out Steeleye Span - 'We shall wear midnight' on Youtube (not sure how to attach).

Last saw him in December 2013 at Salisbury Town Hall when he came on during a Steeleye Span concert as they did a collaboration with him.

Will miss him and Discworld.

"She heard him mutter, 'Can you take away this grief?'
'I'm sorry,' she replied. 'Everyone asks me. And I would not do so even if I knew how. It belongs to you. Only time and tears take away grief; that is what they are for."
