You need 60x40 hole or just three 40x20 longways if my maths is right. The same for artillery I think

Yes for cavalry, no for artillery.

Cannons etc are based in pairs 40x20 longways; don't really know what you'd do about that.  Suppose you'd need a unit and a half and use a cavalry sabot :)

Couldn't you just use a 60x40 hole with  blank 40x20 base

If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

It's not too hard to cut them as a custom job and then we can add them to the website if a lot of people are after them.  You could also:

- Pop them in this one, with blank bases filling the excess gap:

- Or this one for the artillery, with a 20x20mm base in each bottom corner.  You could put your hit markers on the 20x20mm base as well...

For my money, neither of those would work.  The cavalry would have a huge gap either in the middle or to the side of the unit.

Personally, for cavalry and artillery a 40x60 slot would accommodate a whole cavalry unit or 1.5 artillery units.

As you say though, remains to be seen how many Warmaster players are tempted  :)

Sorry about the late reply.

Goblin archers...great! Wonderful so nice to see them armed with something more than short, bent sticks! And it gives my proposed Goblin Army some more options HURRAH!

Can you can I'm pleased?

I intend to use the proposed Goblin army as a general 'bad guy' force for my semi-historical/fantasy setting, a sort of Late Medieval/Elizabethan/Stewart period world.

Fun! Fun! Fun!

I'm having a good morning so far, it won't last, I wrote a good chapter of my latest fic (based on the myths and legends of Robin Hood) and even managed to get a 'Weetabix' reference into it!

Now there's a thought...what about a set for Robin Hood and his Merry Men? They'd all fit in a twenty-five figure pack.

...and interestingly, a 25 figure Warband pack is 37p cheaper than the normal fantasy range price AND is pretty much the right number for a Warmaster unit. Add in the sabot base and 3 40x20 bases - sorted for either rule set  :D

I wonder if there could be a generic sabot base. Supplied in two parts, the lower part being solid. The upper part perforated on, say, a 5 or 10mm grid, similar to postage stamps, such that the user could remove whatever shape was needed to suit the original basing? Punch/cut out the required hole/holes in the perforated bit and stick the 2 halves together. Any remaining perforations then filled as part of painting/flocking the sabot. You only need to stock one size of sabot, the user doing the required customisation. I'll take 10% of any savings you make, OK  ;)

Yep, and that was a deliberate decision, we wanted to make the new range better in every way possible, so quality, variety and price.

That's not a bad idea, we might have a look at that.  As long as the perforations were strong enough to keep the remaining base in place and still easy enough to clip apart for customising the base.  Hmmm...  :-\

fred.

Don't forget with sabot bases you need a good 2mm extra clearance on the top part at least to make sure the bases fit in.

I've recently made a bunch of movement trays / sabot bases - and had to redo the first ones as the original bases would't fit in, either due to slight differences in size, or due to bits of extra basing material slightly over the edges.

I'll double check them before we send any out.  We usually find that the width of the laser beam provides enough gap for the bases to fit in and out smoothly, but you never know whether other companies bases will fit as easily.

Well if you were to sell a suitable clipping tool to do the clipping as well, hint, hint...

When will you be sending me the cheque?  ;) :D

Shush, I'm trying to make my first million here!

Although I don't think this will get me very far towards that goal  :(

Wow, what a great release!  Well done to everyone involved!!!  My rulebook turned up last week (and I bought the pdf too) so am really looking forward to building a dozen mini-dioramas and getting some games in!!!

Now, sorry to sound churlish after that gushing praise, but at some point, you ARE going to release that Dwarf general from page 17 and 18 of the rulebook, aren't you?

Ach, forgot to check the old range at the same time.  Cheers.

Leon

Yep, he's currently in the old range, but we'll probably look at bringing him (or something similar) over to the new range in the future.
