My computer won't let me see the aforementioned kitchen appliances. Is there a block on IS associated websites?

I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you are wrong.

Yesterday was working out to be a great day, everything was just falling in place, capped off with the news that the packs of figures in my first major order from Pendraken HQ would be delivered today.   :D

But then 'She who must be obeyed' launched the broadside that managed to deflate all my enthusiasm for life.  Sitting in her armchair she quite coolly looked around the room and then uttered those dreaded words "The ceiling just doesn't look white anymore".    Argh, broadsided full blast, I looked pityfuly up at the ceiling and couldn't argue with her.  The problem then was that I know what is coming next, and sure enough as we went to bed she started talking about what colour she would prefer the bedroom to be.

It seems that apart from a few thousand miniature figures needing painting I am also going to be holding 1/4", 1", 2" brushes and paint rollers over the next few weeks!  Of course I will get no sympathy from our ungracious offspring (all girls) as last time I tried that they just shrugged and made comments such as "but Dad, you like painting" and "It will be a change for you from painting with those stupid little brushes".  Don't they realise that decorating is NOT painting!

Ah well, at least now I have been warned, one day over the next two or so weeks I can expect suddunly to see tins of 5 litres of emulsion to appear and dust sheets brought out the airing cupboard, and for a few days my life will be simple.  Until at the end when I am sitting there and look around and start thinking 'did I miss that spot'.  (Of course I wouldn't have, because if I had 'She who must be obeyed' would have already pointed it out to me.)

I'm not going to be so ungallant as to suggest that it's important to her because she spends so much time looking at it?

Oh. I just have - FSN

Tell them they're all going to be helping. That will a) get it done more quickly (hopefully), and b) stop the smug comments.

Get the whole house done at the same time. Hold a decorating party, you supply the paint, brushes etc and give groups of people a room each to do. At the end, when it's all done have the party with the booze you bought. Job done. Might be a tad more expensive than doing it yourself but the whole gaff gets done double-quick time.

For pity's sake don't let them near the booze before or during the painting.
