Nah, it's not that.  There's already stuff that's 60 x 40 that holds pennies, it's just that it doesn't fit with the rest of my basing because the guys on pennies leave no (or not enough) room for vehicles, while the guys not on pennies can be interspersed between the vehicles.

:-\ I don't really understand..
Could you provide a drawing for example ?

Leman

I think he doesn't want to pay for bases with slots, then waste half of them by plonking a vehicle on said base as well.

thanks chaps - lots more here https://picasaweb.google.com/114091746313103705211/WoTR?authuser=0&feat=directlink  This is my only 28mm army, mainly Perry plastics.

Jack - I'm a bit lost at what you are trying to base. I assumed it was the 20mm figures, 1 to a penny. But I actually think you are talking about the 6mm stuff, if you are expecting to get vehicles on a 6x4cm base. Are you wanting permanent, or temporary? I don't think the regular bases from Warbases and others will work, but I would think you could make something of the right size (or get Leon to cut one the right size - with 2 or 3 cutouts, at strategic points?

ah.. Ok.
Thanks DP for the "translation"  ;)

Jack, the only way I can see, will be to use distincts bases, and switch from one to the other as the game goes on..

Fred : they are gorgeous !

Gentlemen,

The sabot bases are for the 6mm, not the 20mm.  I've got a bunch of 6mm infantry based on pennies, which worked for my initial plan, but now I've got so much 6mm gear that I'm going to base all the vehicles and infantry on 60mm x 40mm bases.  It is possible to buy sabot bases that are approximately 60mm x 40mm that will hold pennies, but it doesn't work for me as I'm looking to base mechanized infantry with their vehicles on the same base.  It's not that the penny-mounted infantry won't fit with vehicles, it's just that they don't fit very well and it looks terrible.

It looks much better to take a 60mm x 40mm base, glue three AFVs (such as BTRs or BMPs) on it, then glue 4-6 individual troops on the base, mixed in between the vehicles.  So, I actually may just sell off all those 6mm NVA and US (Vietnam-era) infantry; they're all GHQ models, painted and based on pennies, if anyone is looking at doing 6mm Vietnam...

Stay tuned, I've about got another KG Klink batrep finished.  Played two more games this weekend also.

Seriously, as Jim at Products for Wargames, tell him Will from MKWS sent you.
If you can send him a plan of what you want, he can make it.

Lemmey,

I appreciate it, but it's not an issue of getting it made, it physically doesn't work.  You can't fit three BTR/OT64/BMP/Bradley/Warrior/Marders plus two, three, or four pennies of infantry on a 60mm x 40mm base.
