Well it is about time I introduced myself.

By day I am struggling assistant professor of international relations currently in Istanbul Turkey, fighting the hapless fight to publish (Publish or Perish as they say! I assure you that if you like instant gratification in your job, stay away from academia :P)

I have been painting miniatures for at least 20 years (first ever set was Esci Zulus and British. I wanted to get the Crimean War set but my mother said no). I have been playing miniature war-games for 12, having passed through the obligatory GW phase (actually I wanted to do DBA and my first wargaming army was a ESSEX 15mm HYW French, stolen at a store, but my mates wanted 40k :p)

I have painted and played games in four countries and two continents (yes I have had to travel a bit!). I have painted and collected every figure scale except for 40mm and 2/3mm. My main collections are DBA 15mm, WH40k 28mm, Saga 28mm, and now happily 10mm 19th century!

Like most of us in this hobby, I have started and given up a whole bunch of projects, but finally with Pendraken I have been able to start my denied love, which is the 19th century.

You can keep abreast of my projects at my hobby blog, Leadhead PhD (http://phdleadhead.blogspot.com.tr/). I hope it gives you joy!

With Respect

Sometimes I wonder - why is that frisbee geting bigger - and then it hits me!

Some nice looking chaps on the blog, sad news about the borads though, another good idea gone wrong because of  the vagaries of the material.

Welcome aboard, KT. You are a well-travelled wargamer, I see. Mind you, one can move from Europe to Asia at Istanbul simply by crossing the Bosphorus Bridge, of course.  ;)
When you realise we're all mad, life makes a lot more sense.

Welcome K. My first wargame love was the ACW and when I was 16 my mum surprised me by buying a massive book of illustrations of the ACW that had been done for contemporary magazines.
