The Radio Times says that this series will be coming to BBC4 in the Spring :). Can't wait as the clips someone posted last year via Youtube look great. Should be subtitles as well which I prefer.

As I have the Bruce Weigle books this will be of particular interest to me. I also have a cunning plan to game this with minimal effort, but details to follow later in the month...

I've seen it and I can recommend it, as it was aired in Finland a while back. It caused quite a controversy back in Denmark as the producers are not creating a traditional "ooh, mr darcy" type costume drama, they are jumping back and forth between the present and the past and handling some of the historical Danish figures very roughly indeed.
Word of warning if you are looking for epic battle scenes - the series builds up towards the brutal stuff over six or so episodes.
Incidentally, I was at Copenhagen a few weeks ago, and they still had in the National Museum the Danish-German exhibition of the 1864 war. Especially interesting to see the 1850s vintage weapons both sides had - the Danes had muzzle loaders, while the Prussians had breech loaders.
Anyway, if you want to understand the mindset of the Danish nation, definitely worth a try. Spoiler alert: There is even a scene with Bismarck and Moltke enjoying a bit of Floor Gaming :D
Cheers,

Spring, LOL, snowing here yesterday.
Don't buy your daughters a pony, buy them heroin instead, its cheaper and ultimately less addictive.

Just seen trailer for this. Must be pretty soon.

Sunday 16th May.

Brill. I will probably record it as Ma Subs commandeers the TV on Sunday evenings. No probs, more time for wargamey things for me.

Knowing my luck with me not being much of a telly watcher, unless others put stuff like this on the forum, I would very probably have missed it.

I appear to have misheard someone, as it is Saturday 16th BBC 4 9pm for 1864, and Sunday 17th BBC 1 9pm for Jonathan Strange and Mr.Norrel, using magic as a weapon to defeat Napoleon, apparently. Sounds worth a watch.
