I don't really care if I win or lose as long as the game was fun and tense, the rules made sense and everyone enjoyed themselves.

As to periods, well... I suppose

Modern jet air combat
Submarines
Post-zulu colonial
Chinese Civil War
Finnish Civil War

   * The period between the English Civil War and the Battle of Blenheim
   * The Renaissance

   * Most of the "trendy" periods (like AVBCW)

Although I must admit until relatively recently the first was true for me, despite where I live  ;)

The second is what got me hooked on the hobby, only took me 38 years to get armies for  the period, and I still haven't finished them ;D

WWII naval in the Pacific, but only some of that is in the southern hemisphere :)

I've just noticed that that most of that is between 0- 10 degrees south  :o
