A quick question....
I could do with a bit of advice.
Should I base up some Skirmishers if I decide on Black powder as a rules sysrem?
I borrowed the rules to have a read. But can't remember the mixed order rules.

We tend just to use the specialists for Napolionics, rather than the line battalion companies. My justification is that most armies at some stage used converged btns to gain local superiority, and also it gets messy if you use the 1 base that each btn should have.

I would (or will - this is likely my next project),

The Mahdist forces certainly need a number of skirmish type units. A look at the El Teb scenario indicates that.

For the Anglo-Egyptians, I'm not so sure. Given the scale of the actions I'm not convinced that the mixed rule applies. FWIW I'm planning on adding some skirmish bases to my forces but they will be additional/duplicate bases.

For skirmishers in other periods I use a 40mm x 20mm base with 4 figs on it to replace the 20mm square of formed units. That seems to work well and avoids having split or individual bases - it's only a few extra figs to paint  :D

Thanks for the answer guys  :-bd
I have basically 5 figures to a 40x20 base and 4 of those make up my battalion. i was considering 2 figures on a 20 x 20 base for the skirmishers.. still not 100% sure though.....
the Dervish have rifle armed skirmishers at present with enough figures still to go to get some spear armed ones too.

Very nice work indeed.

What was the inside a star ship game in the same album? It looks familiar...
