Whoops hit post button too early -

First - you will need BMP's . The T62 - wrap a T55 barrel about halfway along with tape as fume extractor. Ok - i know its a litty bity longer, but thats not likely to show in 10mm. Oh - and you also need specific figures for Egyptians, lots used soft caps, and a Carl Gustav SMG was heavily issued.

A lot of the Syrian tanks on the Golan Heights were T55s.

I understand that I am not going to be able to model the conflict as accurately as would be possible with ranges dedicated to the conflict, but I have been looking forward to something along these lines for a long time now. The models I bought were the tipping point.

I think I have to be flexible and think "generic". Even the Cent' model will be slightly wrong; the Sho't should have a raised rear engine deck, also with pivot 7.62 or .50 MG on the turret. Even if the T62 was available it would probably be the later up-armoured turret version not the one supplied to Egypt and Israel.

I am thinking at the moment along the lines of an Israeli armoured brigade with two Centurion battalions and an infantry battalion in M113s. A generic "Arabic" T55 tank brigade with a mechanised brigade.

From that starting point I will see what developments we get from Pendraken.    :)

Cheers, Rob  :)

Not sure that the T62 was ever "supplied" to the Israelis, other than being left abandoned on the various battlefields. The captured versions were heavily modified by their new owners.

Absolutly! I must have been thinking of something else when I put that. =)

The Israelis virtually rebuilt their "borrowed" T55 and 62's . Regunned with the L7 105, new fire controls, new engines? Those replaced some of the Shermans, but were not popular. The Hulls are still used as heavy APC's.

Would it possible to have a plastic aircraft kit section in the modern vehicle range?

Looking non the interweb modern aircraft are very well represented;

E.g. http://www.revell.com/model-kits/aircraft/

but I would prefer to buy them from Pendraken.  :)

cant say what TOP SECRET but some modern stuff will be handed over to Dave and Leon at Warfare
Also I will be there on both days as I am taking part in a 1940 Game between France and Germany :)

We'd like to stock more 1:144th planes, but the sales on the ones we've currently got have been very slow, so we're reluctant to get more stock in.  Aside from the Revell MicroWings, we've only shifted a handful of the other types currently on the website.
www.pendraken.co.uk - Now home to over 10,000 products, including nearly 5000 items for 10mm wargaming, plus MDF bases, Battlescale buildings, I-94 decals, Litko Gaming Aids, Militia Miniatures, Raiden Miniatures 1/285th aircraft, Red Vectors MDF products, Vallejo paints, Tiny Tin Troops flags and much, much more!

Lord Kermit of Birkenhead

Think that could be down to types and cost. We is spoilt by the cheap revell stuff.

Yeah, there's tons of modern stuff in 1/144th. It's the WW2 that's lacking. It's either too expensive or just plain (plane?) lacking.

If you fight with BKC you will need only a few token aircraft: Liaison/reccy, ground attack/light bomber and occasional medium bomber, plus the jump ship for airborne actions. (we don't really need the latter, but it does add a certain  ambiance to the tabletop. and the crashed one always makes a good scenario.)

But I suspect like me, many gamers just like the eye candy an aircraft provides.   And the best war games sport a wide variety of kit on the table.

I can appreciate Pendraken's position. They are not a model shop and can be left with stock overload when the big mail order players cut their prices.

I purchased the Armory I-16  'Rata' this week. Amazing detail for 1/144 - even etching for the cockpit instruments.  My theory is that in time kit builders will acknowledge the market in 10mm and start to release accordingly.

Greetings

I tend to use 1/300 aircraft with 10mm figures and 1/144 with 15mm figures.   Might order some more plastics for the Xmas order as I'd forgotten about them.

Just to let you know a T62 is on the cards and they are very different form a T54/55 the road wheels are spaced differently as for a T55 bridge layer speak nicely to DAVE and LEON also oh no I have said to much AAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH

Lord Kermit of Birkenhead

Just got a Jaguar and Tornado for 2.99 each - both Academy, with very odd stores, and a Revell A-10, for 7.99, mainly to arm up the other two. Similar available were Academy MiG 23 and MiG - 29, Revell F-15 E.
