Hello Ladies and Gents,

Just venturing into 10mm to fulfil my lifelong wish to do the 1866 Seven Weeks War- could never do it in my usual scale of 28mm! Otherwise I'm a VBCW gamer.

Bought some Prussians and Saxons at the Derby show yesterday and will start sorting them today; looking forward to expanding this. Am particularly interested in the less well known West German campaigns of the Bavarians, Hanoverians and Federals.

Have read a load of the forum messages on the war and already added info to the large collection of stuff I have accumulated- many thanks to the contributors.

Perhaps the Imperial Army will win this time....... ;)

Regards,

Nick

If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

Welcome to the forum. There is a book due out shortly specifically on the German campaign in 1866.  I've had it on pre-order with Amazon for a while now and cannot remember the title or author I'm afraid.

I think it is by Mike Embree, but don't recall the title.

Welcome to the forum :).

The book is linked below:

Mike is a very good friend of Bruce Weigle (and a throughly decent chap), whose books on the campaign are superb and worth investing in. Having just bought some 2mm buildings at a show yesterday, I hope to make a start on my 2mm armies for this period some time this Autumn.

I too have Mike Embree's  book on order. Last notification I had was that it will now be 2015 before publication.

Enjoy the period.

Welcome to one of the most diverse wargaming forums you will ever come across.

Cab anyone help? Am I right in thinking that Mike Embree used to be in the Napoleonic Association back in the 70's? Does anyone know?

Here is a very useful link to a very useful book/rules: http://www.grandtacticalrules.com/1866.htm

Even if you don't play his rules, the research is outstanding and also covers the Hanoverian Campaigns.

I have vast 6mm and 15mm forces for this period, would love 10mm but ....

Flogged off my 15s so I could do 10. Tomorrow I shall be playing an 1866 game against the purchaser using my old 15mm Prussians - rules 'Feuer und Furia Francese'.
