Thanks for the comments gentlemen, much appreciated!
I do on the otherhand also have a question for you all; I'm about to start with the Zouaves now and although the ones in straw hats are really only usefull for one specific unit (Wheat's Tigers!), the other ones are not so. I was planning to do all different sets up as one complete unit per set, so all eight figures in the same uniform, but I wonder what your opinions are? All in the same uniform or make a mix out of them? Also; I have my favorites for the five sets that I need to do but what would yoúr favorite Zouave units be to be portrayed, taking the specific details of the historical uniforms and the figures into account?
Love to hear from you all!

Rob

Zouaves in fez and turban would look very colourful as the 5th New York. Zouaves in kepi would have to be a separate unit such as 72nd Pennsylvania, Baxter's Fire Zouaves. As far as I am aware zouave units either wore the fez (chechia) or the kepi, but not both in the same unit.

I was indeed planning the 5th NY for the turbanned unit; 'what else?' one might even say :) For the sets wearing the fez I was thinking about the 155th Pa in the dark blue uniforms with the yellow trim and/or the 146th NY in the skyblue uniforms with yellow trim but with just the fez instead of the full turban? Or how about the 76th Pennsylvania with the dark blue jacket with red trim but sky blue trouwers and fez... hmmm...
The guys with the kepi's are even more difficult though; most seem to have been mainly red/blue and I was actually looking for something 'different'. I was thinking maybe the 11th Indiana in their early war grey uniforms with red trim or the 11th NY 'Fire Zouaves' although their zouave uniforms wore out before the first shots were fired. Same goes for the attractive Maryland Guard uniform in dark blue trimmed yellow. Handsome but never worn in action...
Hard choices! :-\
Any help is appreciated but please be quick as I might start on them tomorrow... :D

146th New York every time.  A lovely uniform, particularly in this scale, as it avoids the difficulties of doing a dark blue.

10th New York wore red trimmed brown jackets and sky blue pants, but wore the red chechia not the kepi.

Not my period so I can't offer specific suggestions.

However,  I would suggest avoiding too many in dark blue.  You have plenty of dark blue in the Union infantry and dark blue doesn't show detail as well as lighter colours

Indeed Paul, that's why I keep looking for other options; I do want to try a dark blue with yellow trim though because the yellow trim along the edges will probably bring out the detail. (I have to try that effect for the US cavalry anyway, so why not :-\ )

They are still available on my Photobucket account though it reacts very slow; maybe Photobucket has some sort of hick-up...? I'll give it some time and if it doesn't work I'll try to put them back!
