Great day at Claymore today despite the return of more stereotypical Scottish weather after weeks of sun and above average temperatures.

Went along with my son and nephew and spent most of the day catching up with people I pretty much only see at Claymore these days - regular but not frequent contact

Had a chance to bore chat to Leon and Adele in their new Claymore location, right inside the door! Good for passing trade I'd think though apparent inability to find the light switch for the spotlights made it little dimmer than it should have been in the recesses of the stand!

Picked up stuff from Pendraken (Total Battle church for Eastern Front BKC and some paints); 4Ground 15mm scale damaged Eastern Front village for Chain of Command; some vineyards for my 6mm Sumerians from The Baggage Train, 1/600th scale Russian and German aircraft from Tumbling Dice.

Nice to see weewars' WW1 setup in the flesh, so to speak. Tickled to find the bulk of the buildings are built with card I got from the local library service when I worked with them, which must have been around twelve years or so ago! The stuff was just being binned so I rescued many sheets and used some for bases and scratch building and passed some on to club members.

Had quite a long chat with Pete from Baccus about their WW1 range - lovely and tempting stuff - and with the guy from Tumbling Dice, who's name now completely escapes me - old age is my excuse - on subjects as varied as figure design philosophy, Sumerian "Donkey Carts" and the current problems in the Near East.

Great day out and at £2.50 for adults good value too.

Well worth getting to in future, if you can.

Sounds great, but expensive to get to nowadays from Liverpool.

Loved the Dambuster simulator but sadly the pic of the "crew" boarding the bomber is rather fuzzy

Hi  Ithoriel, I was there too with Tyneside wargames, we did the Schlieffen Plan in 10mm great game, would have been nice to have a chat, next year forum members should have a carnation in our lapels and carry a pendraken catalogue  great day, great show, and I too enjoyed the dambusters game.

Giving serious consideration to going to "Derby World Wargames 2014" at Castle Donington International Exhibition Centre on the 4th October.

It would cost me £65+ and involve getting a coach on the Friday night from Edinburgh to Birmingham, spending 100 minutes (if everything is on time) at Birmingham bus station then getting a coach to Derby to arrive in time to get a bus/ taxi to Castle Donington. Repeat process in reverse on the Saturday evening to arrive back in Edinburgh at about 7:30 am Sunday morning, exhausted and poorer but hopefully in possession of a quantity of metal, resin, mdf and paper.

I must be stark raving mad!

Nice game, difficult to work out where to get a photo from as there was so much going on in the game! Sadly two of the shots I took were too blurry to be useful - curse my old shaky hands

I have had it suggested that I should wear a t-shirt to a (non-wargaming) event with the slogan on the front reading "Hi! You probably know me as ITHORIEL" :-) Perhaps we need "Pendraken Forumite" t-shirts!

By rail it's between twice and three times the cost and the times of trains don't fit the times I want to arrive or leave. Airfares are about the same as the train or a little less but the planes arrive too late and leave too early.

North of the border I can use buses for free so I'm used to bus/ coach travel.

It was more the zig-zag route you were being forced to take - I'm a bit surprised you can't get a coach straight down the A1.
