Excellent, thanks for that Jasper, I'll keep an eye out for that issue.

Leon, so far 10-12mm ranks as follows
1st (favorite scale/size) for 3.3%
2nd for 5.2%
3rd for 9.7%
4th for 12.1%

That's pretty good then, the previous MW survey was only about whether you gamed in a scale or not, so 7% of people gamed in 10mm at that time.  Looking at your stats, we can say that at least 12% of people are doing something in this scale, which is a big improvement.

www.pendraken.co.uk - Now home to over 10,000 products, including nearly 5000 items for 10mm wargaming, plus MDF bases, Battlescale buildings, I-94 decals, Litko Gaming Aids, Militia Miniatures, Raiden Miniatures 1/285th aircraft, Red Vectors MDF products, Vallejo paints, Tiny Tin Troops flags and much, much more!

It must surely increase (all to the good in my opinion) as the variety and quality of castings is constantly improving. My first venture into 10mm was Wargames South FPW in the early 90s. A comprehensive range, but rather wooden in appearance compared to today's Pendraken.

I've applied a filter so that anyone who specifically indicates they're not interested in SciFi/Fantasy/Pulp/Alternative History so that you get the 'hardcore' historical gamers.
Then the ranking becomes:
1st - 4.2%
2nd - 5.8%
3rd - 10.3%
4th - 11.2%

I would also put that down to the number of new companies producing 10mm figures. Oddly enough, the fact that there is more than one company producing suitable figures for a period is an encouragement to me (and others, I would surmise) to get involved in that period in 10mm. And it's also a confirmation that the scale is increasing in appeal.

Hi Jasper.  :-h

So, have you seen the light, yet? FYI The folks at Pendraken also do SciFi and Fantasy in 10mm. Weird War II is also due to make an appearance (goes well with their 10mm Ratte model, as well). But it could be nice to see the results for both? i.e. Strict historical gamers versus strict non-historical. Though I suspect many people always dabble in everything.

Hoi Alex,
Seen the light how?  ;)
Yes, I noticed that they had SciFi and Fantasy too, and I could split those out, but it's a somewhat tricky question. Above reflects ONLY those who said they weren't interested at all in SciFi/Fantasy. I'm sure, as you say, there are plenty of us who may not actively collect and paint a period/setting, but who would happily play it if a friend offered.

Luddite

Done.  Very interesting questions.  Looking forwards to seing thr results.

Good sample sise too, given that I seem to remember seeing estimates of 50,000 UK wargamers in totsl..somewhere...

Next time you're at Crisis, you should go and visit that nice Mr Leon.  ;)

Best of luck with the survey, though. Seems off to a good start.

The old order changeth, giving place to new - isn't that describing 10mm?

Mmm, but every old order was a new order once.

Yeah. Except with Pendraken, who have an excellent delivery service, so that orders don't have time to get old.
