Not easy to find a white duck down a coal mine, boyo.

Lord Kermit of Birkenhead

Just proving 'is higerance........

far as I'm aware ducks don't like coal mines, although the Welsh variety may well follow national traits and spend half their lives in deep dark pits.

The ENGLISH are best.....

Could someone rudely interrupt this lofty intellectual discourse and tell me which Pendraken minis are useful as dark Age Welsh?  :-<

Matt J

Anglo Saxon - AS4, AS6
Dacian - AD6
Late roman - ARL16

The AS and dacians are of the same size not sure on the late romans but Clib's stuff tends to be a tad larger.

If the Welsh are for Saga then there will likely be very little armour. Most bare headed, tunic clad, round shielded figures will do for Welsh. Cloaks look good on some figures. Archers should be even more straight forward. Use armoured Norse, Saxons or late Romans for elite, chieftains etc. Vast majority of cavalry by the C9th would be unarmoured and javelin armed. It's why I much prefer the C5th and C6th.

The Irish cavalry would do for Welsh.

Thanks folks. I prefer visually distinctive minis for 10mm, but I already use Vikings & Anglo Saxons/Danish, so I'll have to take a look at the minis in those codes. Saga says most of the Welsh can start mounted, so the cav will be useful...

I have had a chance to look at the packs suggested now - but what Irish Cavalry? The only ones I can find are Late Medieval...

Lord Kermit of Birkenhead

Yes - those....the Irish were a tad conservative in their dress etc

You might also consider the light sarmatian cavalryman in the Dacian range.
