Hi all,

First post - new on the forum.  I'm in a wargames club with a friend of mine, Ric (who's also on this forum) and the pair of us have decided to collect 10mm Pendraken Fantasy armies for use with the Kings of War (KoW) rules.  He has selected a Goblin force, while I have plumped for an Undead army.

Yesterday Pendraken were at the Carronade games show in Falkirk, so both Ric and I collected our pre-ordered forces.  I'm intending to post to the forum with photos of my progress, partially to encourage myself into workign on them and partially to just share a bit of general chat!

Hi Craig, welcome to the forum from a fellow Scot.

The forum is home to a fun, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful bunch ... in my experience at least. I'm sure they'll make you feel at home.

Don't worry about the inevitable in-jokes and esoteric references, you'll catch up with people's personal hobby-horses and idiosyncrasies pretty quickly.

I was at Carronade myself so we may actually have seen each other without knowing it!

Hi Craig,

The Kings of War rules look good. I have some Pendraken orcs and goblins, too. Are you planning to mount your figures on the usual 20 x 40mm bases?

I didn't see Ithoriel at Carronade either.

Cheers, Michael

Welcome Craig,

Nice to see another convert to the one true scale!

One thing I've never understood about an undead army, is how do you kill them?

Zombies now, that;s a different matter. The SF range has a nice line in shuffling horrors. I'm using them in a 1960's/70's TV theme, with stout British soldiers in Land Rovers waving SLR's around.

Disrupt the magic holding them together - cold iron and magic are the approved methods though having them eaten by demons or stepped on by giants does seem to do the job just as effectively ;)

Hi all, and thanks for the 'hullo'es.

Ric has bought the full KoW rulebook, so I am using the free online version for now - which seems promisingly entertaining, from a first read-through.  By prior agreement, we are shooting for 60mm basic frontage - I'll save the details from this section, and stick them in the painting diaries section when I have the first pics to post (hopefully tonight.)

Not really sure about how to kill skeletons - obviously, I tend to view that more as a problem for my opponent to solve!

As per the KoW army list, I'll actually have a good horde of zombies to put down on the tabletop.  The pendraken figures do look very adaptable for zombies - many of the unarmed ones have badly decayed and non-specific clothing, that could work pretty well in any SF/Fantasy setting.

I'm sure we'll keep you on track as and when it's needed seeing as I have some 10mm fantasy and ancients I can dig out now to help you along.

Norm

Hi Craig, look forward to seeing your armies.

As the other mad man of this endeavour let me just say this craig: my goblins will kill your undead until they die from it! ;)

Hi all - slightly basic 'new guy' question: how do I add a photo on a forum post?

I see there is a button for 'Insert Image' but if clicked it just adds some text like this:

Not seen this before, as compared to blogging when the usual 'add attachments' window opens - am I missing something obvious?
