Just been to the new Bannockburn visitor centre. Well worth a visit. They have a 3d show and a war game which was inspired by a lovely lady called Amy.

The Scots won when I played.I proudly bumped off the accursed English king with a combination of traps, archers and  spears.

Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

I was there in 77 when the SK did Stirling for a week. First ever taste of haggis and liked it. Got absolutely bladdered on whiskey and haven't been able to drink the stuff since. Some of the younger locals weren't too happy with us being there though.

Sounds like damn good value for 'thruppence'.
(Sadly that's really how I read it at first glance !)

What.....You mean some of the forum don't know what Pounds, Shillings and Pence were ?
3d = Three old pence......Not this modern rubbish we have nowadays.

Denarii......Again, a bit too modern for my liking. ;)
(Anyone else had a problem with this page loading ?......Been playing very silly B's up until now.)

He's got an old shilling Broadband meter. he just doesn't notice when the shilling is up.

Fenton

I first read  that as an old shilling broadsword meter

My broadband meter still uses groats.....I'll upgrade it to the silver thruppence type.

I read the first post about a 3D show and then got down to this comment about "thruppenny bits".  Being from East London "thruppenny bits" is rhyming slang for a particular entertainment package supplied by ther fairer sex.   I thought I had missed a link or a picture and spent the next few minutes looking all over the thread for something interesting I had missed  ;D

Is that Quaker groats?

My eyes don't work properly, full stop. (Ouch, who left that there?)
