The MJ Figures model is superb - and probably expensive?

Thanks guys, well the yanks and Afghans ,Russians have arrived at my home, but alas the Brits have still to be ordered...Britannia are so slow....
However its giving me time to build up the village .
I`m going to do some local (Ghana) shanty houses to go with Rh African figs, for a bit of variation....
Once the carpenter brings the good wood...(he did supply me with a nice big pot of PVA today,)
so I`m well happy...
I have just done a new bore hole and the dust from down under my house is a fabulous array of colours...
I`m keeping some for local schools to study......(no gold though).....

marie

My first attempt at shanty build...I need to work on the roof....

Duke Speedy of Leighton

Looking good. If it were me I would Use a wash of brown ink (carefully so it doesn't mush) leave it with the cobras out in the sun to dry, highlight dark grey and rust brown on the edges.

marie

yh your are right I have redone the roof, so the colour is stronger my second shanty is a lot better...
learning on the job...

Duke Speedy of Leighton

Glad it worked, sorry to butt in on your great efforts. I've painted a hell of a lot of shantys in my time Marie, the roofs are the worst bit as when you look at real shantys (in my case only in Sri Lanka when I visited or on films/photos), they are all sorts of colours and conditions, but rust and dust is prevalent on the tops.
They really are ubiquitous. Timecast do lovely ones for 15mm that would work well for small 20mm dwellings.

yh your right, I have been working on it, as i`m surrounded by them here in the bush, so hopefully soon, i will get them right
and i moved away from my usual spray black first and printed the shanty walls and roofs out from the net, which ain`t worked to the same effect.....

Hertsblue

Yes, you really need the black undercoat to get the depth of shadow.

No disrespect to Marie's talents, nor yet to Timecast's fine products, but lovely and shanty shacks don't sit easily together.
