Dear fellow Members of the Forum,

I have been a member of this forum now for some time, coming up to a year, and I sure long standing members of the forum yearn for those halcyon days before I signed up. In this time, I have rarely displayed what I do with the Pendraken stuff I buy. There is basically a good reason for this. I do not consider myself to be a very good painter and my modelling skills are very poor - just the mention of a 25pdr is enough to put me into a blue funk. However, the painting competitions have made me decide to stand for what I hope is the majority of members, whose painting may be shaky, whose basing may be basic, but who still know how to enjoy a good game.

I begin with a photo of FSN central. It has all one could need, PC, laptop (for multi-tasking), XBox (with strict dress code!), PS2, TV/DVD and iPod dock, all handily placed by the painting table.

In the post-war desolation of Britain a number of new towns were built. One was located in the Scottish borders and named Pendraken New Town. The architecture was brutalist in the extreme and the grey concrete monotony was not conducive to community spirit. The shopping centre was ringed by a light industrial area, the civic centre, two massive tower blocks (named by the council after Trotsky and Lloyd-George, but colloquially known as "Leon"  and "Dave"), and the remains of the original hamlet - just a few estate cottages and a churchyard. There is only one road out of Pendraken New Town, and that goes to Middlesborough, but no-one knows why.

The town was filled by shipping in the dispossessed from Glasgow. By the 1960's Pendraken New Town was a forgotten experiment, left to slowly decay. However, there was another mystery about Pendraken new Town. It was built on top of a Doorway (call it an anomaly, portal or Indian grave yard or whatever) that once disturbed reached out over time and space to randomly grab whatever it found and return it to Pendraken new Town. It also, on occasion takes from Pendraken New Town and sends, well know one knows where.

The army has been called in (WITH CENTURION TANKS), but when the Doorway will deposit a new menace onto the streets of Pendraken New Town is unknown, and scientists are trying desperately to work out how to close the Doorway.

This is a photo from the early days of the Doorway. A platoon of Space Marines (I have no fear) in their APCs were grabbed from somewhere in space and time. They celebrated by going to see Danish films in the Rox Cinema (Prop. N Harwood). The local constabulary arrive to issue parking tickets.

Later that night, police receive a call about a disturbance outside the Dark Lord's Head public house, not knowing what they were to face.

Early days for Pendraken New Town. I'm munching my way through a 750g pack of Special K as a basis of David LLoyd George house, but I have the mechanisms worked out. I may have Sharpe, Emma Peel and Ripley facing vampires; or Predators taking on a Panther tank, supported by British soldiers. Who knows? All I can say is that I expect chaos and great fun.

Nice to see Woolworths is thriving in Pendraken New Town

Concrete cows are a little passé now, I believe. Folly of choice is now a giant staue of a man with bronze glider-wings. No one has yet calculated its stall-speed....
When you realise we're all mad, life makes a lot more sense.
