My mother was diagnosed as having glaucoma at a visit to the opticians in the hyper-super-mega-store where ever little helps.

I took her to our local hospital (well done NHS) and there they performed a minor surgery (their terms) in which they replaced her lens. At least I think that's what they did, she's a little hazy when pressed.

She's delighted at the improvement in the eye thy did. She can actually read subtitles on the telly. However, she has a problem. When she puts her glasses on the bad eye can see, but the fixed eye can't. I suggested she popped the lens out of her glasses.

After two days, she proudly announced that she's popped the lens out of her glasses and could see really well.

"Great", I said. "When you get the other eye fixed, you can pop the other lens out." She nodded sagely, then said "I think I'd like some new frames."

Hmmm, sounds like my late Mother many years ago .

You get to the stage in your life when objects are just out of focus for your reading glasses and too close for your distance glasses. And, no, varifocals don't help.

Maybe the people that need an optivisor cant read the screen therefore needing an optivisor to read the posts by Phil advising them to get one...Something not right with that argument

I've got one, Phil. It only complicates the matter. My reading-glasses won't work with the OV so that, to paint, I have to perch the glasses on the end of my nose so that I can find things on the worktop, lower the OV so I can see the figure, leaving a visor-like slit between the two that I can watch the TV through. It's like banging your head against a brick wall - great when you stop.
