Finally saw the first episode of "Musketeers". Not as a bad as I feared. Louis XIII appears to have had a firearm that required no reloading, if the pigeon shooting sequence is to be believed.  :-\

Surely Loius wouldn't reload his own guns, he'd have a flunky reloading and another passing him loaded guns and taking the ones just fired. Just happens out of shot. Honest. Probably. :)

I just watched this on i-player whilst polishing my helmet at work (no jokes please, we're British) and way better than the first episode. On the strength of this will watch again next Sunday. However I don't like the D'Artagnan character compared to the other Musketeers :(.

I don't think my wife likes me very much, when I had a heart attack she wrote for an ambulance.

I've been really quite enjoying it. Note sure about the leather biker jackets, but the rest is loads of fun. And hey, musketeers who shoot things. What a novel approach!

I also liked the fact that even though we know the Cardinal is the ultimate bad guy, in that second episode he wasn't such a 'bad guy'.

As for the women folk, I think Constance is lovely without being too Hollywood and the queen is kind of cute, but they really dropped the ball with Milady. She should be really seductive but instead she just looks a bit cruel and angry all the time. Even when trying to be seductive.

I'll be watching episode 3 with interest.

Agreed...Musketeers who use...erm...Muskets! (someone's gonna tell me it's an arquebus anytime soon).

Yeah, Milady doesn't do it for me but then: beauty, eye of beholder and all that :-\

I think, and I'm probably wrong and will be have to be corrected and chastised for my ignorance, that the musket was much bigger and heavier than the arquebus and required a rest.  I think theywere supposed to be more accurate than the arquebus but this was probably a relative improvement.

However I'm more impressed by the pistols than the muskets, all decent, big, heavy wheel lock beasties often used as a club once they've been fired.

I really enjoyed episode two, nice to see the leathers being hidden by the traditional light blue cloaks.
