For a superpower the Yanks don't half run scared at the slightest thing. If you're not prepared to take casualties don't start a war. Do you suppose anyone at Paypal thought to look at what Peter Pig's business actually is.

No chance this is going to happen to Pendraken is there?

You can always ring Leon and buy direct...I thought you had already given Pendraken your Credit card number and asked them just charge a set amount each month and then they sent you new goodies
If I were creating Pendraken I wouldn't mess about with Romans and  Mongols  I would have started with Centurions , eight o'clock, Day One!

Oh dear.....It'll be interesting to find out what the problem's been, in case it does cause anyone else to suffer in the same way.
Cheers - Phil.

I've been blocked by Paypal for the guts of a year and despite repeated attempts I have been unable to contact thme to find out how to unblock my account. Tg I only used it for purchases now I just ignore sites that only accept Paypal.

We've never had anything like that, but PayPal are a nightmare a times.  For the 99% of transactions which go through normally, they do an efficient job.  But that other 1%, where something doesn't quite go right, they are shockingly bad.

We've got one at the moment with them, where the customer hadn't realised we cast to order, so put in a dispute when the goods hadn't arrived after a couple of weeks.  PayPal told us to communicate with the Buyer through their Resolution Centre, which we did.  After another week or so, the package arrived safely, and the customer posted in the Resolution Centre to say that everything was OK now.  Unfortunately though, they didn't cancel the dispute.  PayPal took the money from us when the original dispute came in, and now won't put it back in our account.  There are no options for us to close the dispute at our end, or facilities to tell them the customer has the goods.  The only thing we can do is elevate it to a claim.  We've also sent them several emails which they've not answered, and there's no one answering their phones 'cos they're shut for Xmas.

And that's were old fashioned communication comes along  :]]

If you think something is wrong then just ask, instead of making claims and disputes. Some people just don't have patience these days.

Another problem with paypal is that it's hard to prove you sent something out if you don't have a tracking number of some sorts. I know a few cases where someone send something out (personal trading that is), and then the recipient claims they never got it. It's one of the reasons that more and more ebay-sellers only offer signed shipping, because the system is easily abused.

Now if the goods are good and have some value, signed shipping is no problem, but if you need small things it's a (financial) pain in the behind. Imagine having to pay 12 or so pounds shipping on pot of paint worth 1,85  :o

The other pain with PayPal is that the Seller Protection is only valid if you send the goods within 7 days.  So even if we sent everything Recorded, it wouldn't count because it might have taken us 10 days to send the goods.

They also take the customers payment out of your account with no notice at all, purely based on the customers side of the story.  Then it's stuck in limbo, accruing interest for PayPal, while you try and get them to listen to what you're telling them.  This latest one is especially annoying, as the customer stated that the package arrived in PayPal's own communication section!  If they would just look at their own website, they would see that everything's OK and that we can have our money back.

Equally a pain when a seller plastic glues all his junk together and sells it as a conversion taking pics from the angels where you cannot see the f-up. Took me 3 weeks and the information that by 5pm I have my money or they are in for assisting a fraudster.
Within Germany I ALWAYS insist on direct transfer. If you have a claim, you come to me. You don't like it - tough.

So it works either way. The only alternative I can see Leon is not accepting paypal for first time buyers and a clear message how Pendraken operates. IF it is OK with me, Techno, Nik, Fenton, fsn... (just to mention a few) then it will be good enough for the rest.

I remember the pr0n filter at work blacklisting Pendraken years ago because one of the robot crawlers had come across

FC2 Female, naked, bow (5)

They whitelisted the site for me when I pointed out it was a model of a centaur.

Hope Peter Pig are back up soon, for all sorts of reasons.

My beef is even better - they raised a dispute with me because I wouldn't have a direct debit on my current account so they said they couldn't use my debit card. I had received goods ordered but they were refusing to transfer the funds. That took 4 weeks and much swearing at illiterate operators who seemed to have no knowledge of either their systems or British banking. Best answer I got was from a call centre in North East England - to the effect that paypal didn't need the aforesaid DD. One of the orders wuz a Pendraken one.

I managed to get through on the phone today and got ours all sorted out.  The funny thing is that I rang PayPal, but got hold of some third-party call centre, and the guy who fixed our problem freely admitted that they weren't PayPal.  He actually gave us some interesting pointers if we ever get future disputes...  :D  We've only had 4 in the past 5 years though, so it's hardly a regular occurence.
