Great thing about BP is the rules are designed to be tweaked to fit the scenario.
It may be worth a quick snoop at the Last Argument of Kings suppliment, but watch for factual errors!

We use Pike and shotte with a few tweaks for WSS, just to reduce the ease of manoeuvre a little! Gives a good game and feels that little bit different from SYW/Nappies/Italian Wars/Landsknecte stuff :)
