Hi
I was just searching through some posts for some information and realized that a question that I asked last week was exactly the same question that I asked back in 2011.
Sorry chaps.
Cheers Paul
PS Both questions got answers!

Which must tell you something!
...and even more if the answers were completely different...and yet from the same people! :D

That can happen after a gap of six weeks, never mind six years! ;D

Sorry, what was the question?
Squirrel!
Ten to Twelve!
So am I, let's have a cup of tea.
Windyy, no its Friday
The MIL can remember stuff from years ago.......But anything said to her from between 30 seconds and a minute previously simply won't stick....(I'm not joking).....And the last year might just not have happened, as far as she's concerned.
Sad...and not much fun when you deal with it constantly. X_X X_X X_X X_X X_X X_X X_X X_X X_X X_X X_X
Cheers - Phil
Been there with my mother >:<
Also seen it at first hand myself with my mother. Not good.

Ditto with both in laws. ~X(
Likewise, also same question about 5 times in ten mins. You have to be patient, and I'm not.
I find that I can fairly easily cope with 'the problem' most of the time....Sometimes she even makes me have to hide my laughter, with the statements she comes out with.
Other times......AAAAARGH !!!!
Like you say, Ian....The same question over and over again in a short period of time. Her record is 7 times in 5 minutes, a few weeks ago.
Cheers - Phil
Somebody shoot me first, please!
Don't worry, Matey....You won't know that it's happening. X_X
A very nice lady from the Alzheimer Society came to see us a few weeks ago.....And gave a very good 'explanation' of what happens with the condition.
Imagine a book case, filled with your own memories in diaries.....Book by book.
Top shelf, are the most recent 'diaries'.....The bottom shelf are your earliest memories, from childhood.
These books aren't stacked particularly well, and are prone to fall over.
Once they've fallen over.....That's it !....They've gone....You can't access them anymore.
Soooooooo....Once the top shelf has fallen over (with the most recent memories)...all that's going to happen is that the shelves below are going to start 'falling over' as well.....
The 'victim' is going to basically regress to childhood, as 'these books' fall over.
Not nice.
Cheers - Phil
FK - careful what you wish for.
What a lovely metaphor Techno.
If you like a metaphor, doesn't it become like, a simile?

I ain't joking. Blind, deaf, mad, or impotent - I have no wish to continue on those terms. Not sure about a wheelchair either.
Mad - well, I'm a wargamer, so of course I'm a bit round the twist. That doesn't count; just normal healthy obsessive-compulsive.
My dad has alzhiemers and he's only 69. This might sound weird but it's not that bad. He doesn't realise he has the condition, doesn't remember that he forgets. It doesn't cause him any pain or distress (yet) hard work for me but reassured it's not too bad for him.
That's the thing with dementia it affects others more than the patient. If that makes sense.

Certainly does, Matey.....The MIL hasn't got a clue as to how it affects me and Von.....Just lives in her own 'immediately current world'.
Cheers - Phil
Shaved the moustache off today for the first time in 42 years and already I look 20 minutes younger. 8)
On porpoise or accidentally?
After I retired from work I got my eyes laser adjusted so no more glasses, shaved off the mustache and now lots of people don't think I am an old age pensioner.
I have had a beard for fifty years. It is now snow white. I am often mistaken for Santa Claus.
I once shaved it of in my forties. It did not make me look even twenty minutes younger.
I made me look like Quasimodo.
In the streets strong men quavered, women fainted, small children became hysterical.
I wore a ski mask for a month until it grew back.

OK, to answer the question, I did it on dolphin.
[It's really weird. My upper lip is a lot thinner than I remember. Is it really mine? Wait a minute. OK, who's got my real upper lip .....?]
Will - just say "So long and thanks for all the fish"
This is what dolphins think about porpoises round 'ere.

Nufink unusual der is der
Uuuuh! =)
OK, for new forum members and the old and doddery ones, an explanation ....
Well spotted, Bill. By "OPE" I presume you mean Oik of the Pendraken Empire. Alas, it is a knighthood, awarded by Phil in the Pendraken Honours list 2015 for pissing him off .... which I still cherish, by the way (I'll check out what's happened to the Direct Debit, Phil), and have not renounced, merely omitted from my moniker to reflect the modest and outstanding chappy that I am (and probably because I shaved too far when removing the hairy caterpillar from the top lip).
Signed - Sir Oik (of Westmarch) of that Ilk. :)
P.S. As many of my fine fellow members will have noted, there was no Pendraken Honours list in 2016 but rumour is it may make a comeback in 2017 with Orcs, in recognition of his recent outstanding services to japery, receiving the honorific, "Count."
At least I think that's what Phil said .. :-\
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D - oooer! I remember marking a child's book once, after he made a spelling error with King Cnut.
Reminds me of an engagingly mis-labelled melon in a Bangkok supermarket.... One vowel can make a fair bit of difference.

AS none of us speak Thai ( apart from Jig, jig and "I love you long time") :D you will have to expand this a bit
It was meant to be labelled in English. I'm sure you can work out what a cantaloupe could be turned into without getting me into trouble for using a word that many people find offensive.
p.s. ME love you long time.
